I’d say it’s unlikely a lot have seen him often enough to make an informed decision tbh.
Of course there will be exceptions but most stamping their feet are doing so because they wanted somebody else.

Nothing to do with optimism. This is one of the rare cases where I’ve actually watched him play extensively. Sure Benfica fans will say he has talent and potential, I mean we said the same about Iheanacho, Maffeo and a hundred other players. But the reality is that at this point he is not even better than JFE. Mangala level signing. I genuinely don’t understand how the fuck we are even linked with him. He’s the Leon Bailey of defenders. Hype for one season, but not actually really good.

Seen him 3-4 times. He has that tendency to make a howler and also loves to dive in. Doesn’t have an outstanding pace, but not Otamendi level of speed. We will see, but this is a panic signing. Compare this to Ederson who was well researched and we knew what we were getting.

It’s like we don’t want to make a top 5 PL transfer in terms of fee, as we like being able to say we are not inflating the market, others are. I remember vividly the Khaldoon interview where he mentioned we don’t have the most expensive goalkeeper, defender, midfielder or striker.
