At what price level is housing considered "affordable"? For those millions on zero hour contracts, or the national minimum wage, even a 50% cut in the average house price would not qualify for a mortgage.

Affordable adequate housing is so fundamental to a modern country it should be estranged from party politics, not a bargaining chip, same goes for health and education. I know about this, in fact the green belt field outside my house is designated for housing though it is unlikely to be developed, there has been much talk about this both locally and nationally, but the figures for actual builds, assuming the "best" scenario are hopelessly inadequate. No one believes that this "plan" is anything other than "need to be seen to do something" bullshit.

The topic is about a home secretary being replaced - this man was suggested as a new one. indeed he is 3-1 favourite to replace her. I made an innocent comment that he would do a good job and the usual suspects started spouting. He was attacked and I put my case for why he has done a good job across in his current position.
