Rugby League Season 2023

You sound like a copycat United/Liverpool fan in football. That’s the same shite they spout.

You could replicate what you’ve written there and take it off RAWK;

If everyone cared about how good a club Wigan are or what Wigan have won in their history or what legends Wigan have had playing for them; everyone would be a Wigan fan and nobody would support any other teams. But they don’t. Just like not everyone supports United and Liverpool in footy.

The reason other fans don’t like Wigan isn’t because they’re the ‘finest club’, it’s - just like in footy with the redshirts - that their fans think of themselves as that and bang on about it, always with belittling of everyone else.

City also didn’t win anything of significance for years, just like Wire, both actually went 35 years without a major trophy until Wembley Cup wins in 2010 and 2011… so what are you saying about City? City won just two league titles in our first 118 years, Wire have won three in their history, so what are you saying about Manchester City Football Club’s first 118 years and what kind of club we were?

I always find it very insecure from United and Liverpool fans when they have to justify their clubs’ standing in the game by saying how much better they are than everyone else. That’s what you’re doing here which is surprising coming from a City fan as I always think City fans would take their way of supporting City into the way they might follow clubs in other sports.

No,not really, and I'm saying fuck all about City, they have always come first to me,this is a rugby league thread, and what I'm saying is spot on,the players I listed are a prime example of what I have explained, and as the current saying goes,it boils piss.

There is no mention in anything I've said about Bryan Robson or Ian rush neither,so the living in the past history is a non issue to me with Wigan.

They have had a few bad seasons, but thankfully have not stooped as low as Bradford Bulls have, but what I'm saying is that take Warrington for example, living in the shadows of what Wigan,St Helens and to a degree Widnes hahaha,in other words shite.

The fans of the "wire" in my experience are also a set of cunts, who wanted to fight everywhere they went in the late 80's,early 90's....oh and rip seats out of the Main Stand at Maine Rd,but we won't go there eh,as you believe there is a link between City and Warrington, like fuck there is

Wigan are the Man U of Rugby League. Run by a shady character in the 80's who pressured the league into changes to suit them. Arrogant entitled fans who look down on fans of other clubs, who now do nothing but reminisce about their dominance in their glory period. There dominance was mainly down to poaching the best players with big money from other clubs like Lydon, Offiah and Gregory from Widnes, Hanley from Bradford.

Had the money,so attracted the best you mean, a bit like City do now eh.

Poached fuck all, they came because they wanted to win things, and they did,in abundance

I'll add Dean Bell and John Ferguson, and arguably the best rugby league player I've ever seen into it as well Brett Kenny, not many names that could be thrown back at me would equate to those three neither, absolute world class.

Mal Meninga was the only one I feared as a kid, wishing he played for Wigan, apart from him,not very many more

Jeez! So they won nowt with Widnes? aye alreet!

…see!

There are a lot of links between City and Wire, not any club or fan links but just parallels in history and there are a lot links between United+Liverpool and Wigan+Saints (not just success, but the way in which their fans deal with being successful):

Record attendance in the country; 35 year run without a major trophy broken in consecutive years at Wembley; more down to earth than the Sky Redshirts, summed up with the line ‘lived in the shadows of Wigan, St Helens and to a degree Widnes hahaha in other words shite’ could be the biggest example of exactly what a Rag would come out with ‘City lived in the shadows of United, Liverpool and even Stockport hahaha in other words shite’.

Neither City or Wire fans go round calling other clubs shite because they happen to have won less than them, City fans don’t give shit to SheffWeds (random example) fans for winning less, Wire fans don’t give shit to Wakefield (random example) fans for winning less. Can you say the same for United and Liverpool fans in footy or Wigan and St Helens fans in RL?…

If you think Wire are a shit club, then the sport of rugby league is shit and we might as well as just pack it in and sack RL off because it’s failed.

When you look at major trophies won: Bradford (14 major trophies), Huddersfield (13 major trophies), Wire (12 major trophies), Hull (11 major trophies), Widnes (10 major trophies), Swinton (9 major trophies)… it’s like calling City, Spurs, Chelsea, Everton and Villa shite in football.

They’re the next tier down from the three most successful clubs and a credit to the sport. So are Salford, Hull KR, Leigh, Catalans, Oldham etc. and even the old defunct Hunslet and [various name] Rangers (both of whom had won more than St Helens in the first eight decades of rugby) as well as other clubs. All good clubs with good histories that contribute to a great sport.

Calling clubs shite because they haven’t won as much as you is classless and straight out of the United and Liverpool way of supporting a sports team.

Not as much as they did with Wigan, and as for your comment earlier about arrogant and entitled,Christ, you'd never find anybody more down to earth than a Wiganer
Look fella, I'm originally from Bolton with relatives who still live in Leigh. From mine and their perspective your original post perfectly reflects their arrogance when it comes to Rugby League!

See…

As hard as you are trying mate,I'm not a rag or dipper, keep trying though if you like.

City,Spurs,Chelsea,Everton and Villa were all shite in the rags and scouse eras that there is no denying, irrelevent as fuck.

But as I say things change, thankfully for City they have big time, but going back to that result yesterday, the purists,(are you a purist),claim it's good for the game that Hull KR and Leigh have got to the final,so using that analogy then, will you be happy if Villa play Everton in next seasons Cup final, after one of them knocking out City in the semi.....would you fuck.

So,to finalise,I can see you are envious of what Wigan have achieved over the years,as much as I am what rags and scouse have done in football terms, but Warrington are shit, with tosser fans, and for the record I met a Sheff Wed fan on holiday recently, and told him they were shite as well

And there the allegiance is summed up then,Bolton and Leigh ffs,the 2 towns that despise Wigan the most ffs !

Crack on lad

I’m not calling you a rag or dipper, I’m saying the Wigan and Saints supports are just like United and Liverpool’s. Some of the stuff they (and you’ve done it in these pages) come out with us identical to the shit United and Liverpool fans come out with. Their success and history doesn’t suit a lot of them, they can’t support their clubs and be proud of their achievements without belittling others less successful.

Had one say to me how George Williams is ‘a fat big-nosed little ****’ (despite being a Wigan lad, from the Wigan academy, who’s probably a Wigan fan and maybe one day will coach Wigan, who knows?) and he couldn’t understand how or why he’d signed for Wire and ‘it can only be for the money so he’s a fat big-nosed little money-grabbing ****’. It was the exact same shite we used to get when Yaya Touré and David Silva signed for City off Rags. With absolutely no understanding and not being able to handle or comprehend that it’s not all just about the most successful clubs and that he might also fancy a new challenge in getting a club that isn’t as successful to become successful.

I actually find Sts fans worse than Wigan. Saints are the set of fans who made up the ‘Always Your Year’ chant and they also have a ‘68 Years’ chant… something we just find funny now since they say we’re shit and irrelevant but they always sing about us. Imagine how much they’d sing about us if we weren’t shit and irrelevant in their eyes!

I’ll openly admit there’s a side to Wire fans I hate where I’ve had a go at a certain section of fans for years. Whenever Wire go on a bad run of form it’s immediately ‘CULLEN OUT’ ‘SMITH OUT’ ‘PRICE OUT’ ‘POWELL OUT’ ‘FITZPATRICK OUT’… I’ve told them that they’re mard arses, for years. Although, I’m not a Warringtonian, so maybe I’m more detached from the Wire support to see their bad points.

Wanky wanky Warrington
Everyone sings it . It must get to um obviously pmsl .
Never met a Wigan fan who is slightly similar to a rag or dipper , humble and down to earth deffo , small town and proud mentality nothing else . Warrington fans easiest to wind up by far ! St Helens fans most entitled in my experience ! Anyone wants to see Wigan fans first hand get in the Brickmakers pub Springfield for a couple of pints before a match . Every super league club away fans come in and have the craic even Saints and Wire ! All friendly never any trouble and right in Wigans back yard . :)
Prob with Warrington is the fact the town hasn’t got a football team of note so they get a higher proportion of shit fans following the rugby ( trouble makers) Saints similar but not as bad .
