Rugby League Season 2023

James Roby can look back on a career as the greatest English player to grace Super League. Maybe the best full stop when taking into account his longevity and consistency
Right up there.

Jamie Peacock can be spoken of at the same level n’all.

Rob Burrow and Danny Maguire were always absolute monsters of players when it came to the play-offs, year-after-year. They were always brilliant at Old Trafford (and look at how many tries Maguire got as a half back). And Sinfield was a great captain.

I think that Leeds team were the best I've seen because the level of the other teams was much higher back then. Saints haven’t really played another great side in their recent four year run whereas Leeds were up against some cracking sides in Bradford, Saints, Wigan, Wire and even Huddersfield had a good side in the late 00s and early 10s.

But Roby is right up there with them, as he was there in that era n’all. Rarely had a bad game in his 20 year career.

I suspect Roby has few people who dislike him, and there were questions about who would follow Kieron Cunningham!
He must be the most respected player in the League. Even the refs let him get away with a bit more interference at the play the ball, how the game should be played IMHO.

Yes Jamie Peacock right up there too. Danny Maguire a brilliant attacking player before his serious knee injury, against Wigan. He came back a much better defender but he’d lost that electric pace. Sinfield’s leadership
wad incredible and he was great at picking out weaknesses in his opponents.

Kieran Cunningham another truly great player. Sam Burgess was a decent pair of hands short of a Great Britain legend IMHO.

Adrian Morley, Sean O’Laughlin, James Graham, Sam Tomkins, Paul Sculthorpe… Wellens and Radlinski were both great full backs n’all.

I’d probably go for Peacock and Roby as the top 2 in the SL era.

Big turnout from Rovers for an early kick off. Will likely be Shaun Kenny-Dowall’s last ever game today, been a cracking player.

Can see a Wigan win by 12-18.

Not much of a contest but well done to Wigan. Peaking at just the right time.

Looking forward to next week. Should be a good day with no football of any interest getting in the way.

Easy for Wigan, Rovers couldn’t cope with Wigan’s intensity in attack early in each half.

Oh I have privileges to post again on this thread !

Up the Wigan Warriors !
