Rugby League thread

Two fantastic games to come this weekend in the NRL. It’s a straight up semi final round over there.

Tomorrow 10:45
Canberra v Souths
Canberra have four English lads, Souths have three

Saturday 10:45
Sydney v Melbourne
These were the top2 in the league, should be an absolute bell ringer and will certainly be the best game of rugby of any code all weekend!
I'm an Illawarra lad so i go for dragons (terrible season for us!). Hoping Canberra win it. Sick of seeing the other 'big 3' take turns lifting the trophy. Tbf Storm are a very well run club but Cameron Smith is very punchable...and he's a dirty QLDer.

Salford season ticket holder here aswell as city.
Tonight was absolutely sensational!
I already miss Jackson Hastings, he’s gonna be a big loss. If he doesn’t win the man of steel this year then i just don’t know.

80 minutes away from a grand final. If you’d have told me that in February I’d have laughed in your face.

And that tackle from Niall. Christ almighty. Just wow.
Jackson did finish top of the MOS chart didn't he? We've copied the Dally M model from this season and players get points per performance and it goes towards a league table.

A bit like Wire, who were miles ahead in second place for months, Blake Austin was miles ahead at the top of the MOS chart but then got injured and Hastings overtook him.

I hate Craig Bellamy (not the ex-City player to anyone who isn't a big fan of RL reading this, he's the Melbourne coach!), every dirty trick that's crept into the sport in the last decade - from slowing the PTB down, to the wrestle at the ruck, third man in at the knees after a "held" call, chicken wings, chicken thighs, throwing the ball away to waste time etc... all come from Craig Bellamy and Melbourne. It's like a disease that's spread through the sport. I also don't like Cam Smith, as he's the leader on the pitch of all the dirty tricks and until the last year he was treated like some sort of golden boy of the sport. Although he has been called out this year by the Aussie press for being a ****! Even his teammate Brodie Croft has just come out and said he's leaving Melbourne this Winter because he doesn't like Smith.

I don't support an NRL team. My Cousin is married to a girl from Brisbane who is a Brisbane fan and i have other family who live in Manly, but i just don't feel enough of a connection to any of them to really support any team. That said, Sydney, Souths and Melbourne have all won the title in the last five years and Canberra haven't won since 1994 so it would be good for their fans - so i'll back them this year.

Going to be two cracking games today and tomorrow! Any non-serious rugby fans who have never really got into either code of rugby - have a watch of the two NRL semi finals (10:45 am both today and tomorrow) and see the speed, skill, athleticism and ball in play compared to any given RugbyUnion World Cup game this weekend; i guarantee you'll enjoy the RugbyLeague games more!

Preliminary Grand Final: Saints v Wigan on at 19:45

Do the losers tonight play at the AJ Bell next week ?
No, they’ll be at home to Salford.

Saints finished 1st and Wigan 2nd so they get home advantage in the Grand Final Eliminator.

Obviously the winners tonight go straight to Old Scaffold.

Looking like repeat of last week already. Saints off to a flyer.
