I don't think I could ever really be arsed watching a domestic rugby game, but I enjoy international Rugby Union.

I realise that essentially makes me a part time, glory hunter although I have no great affinity with the English national team. I quite like Wales, just because a close mate from Cardiff got me into the game, but obviously am not particularly partisan either way.

I do really get in to Lions tours though, just because it feels like a great sporting spectacle. This gives me zero credibility amongst genuine Union fans, but I don't mind.

I don't mind Rugby League either, can see the merits of both disciplines. The concept of having to pass backwards to move forwards is a good one.

Its a bit like cricket in that respect. I wouldn't watch Sale v Harlequins, i wouldnt be bothered about lancashire v yorkshire. I can watch the 6 nations and test matches but don't go out of my way to do so.

But ill watch the lions tours and ashes at 6 in the morning.

Id bet a lot of non football fans would watch the world cup final though.

Try watching rugby from other countries, watching English rugby is like watching paint dry.

I watch a lot of NRL, and enjoy it just as much as the super league, we've had some cracking players come over here from oz and new zealand to play in england.

Obviously it's much more competitive over there with the state of origin, which is always a top event.

Always enjoy it when the super league champions play the nrl champions each year, always a good game.

I meant proper rugby not that ground shagging stuff you watch ;)

Union is awful at club level. I can watch the national team especially in the 6 nations but at domestic level then people have to watch the aussie or SA clubs. They actually play instead of kicking.
League by far pisses over it but the international competition just doesn't really exist.

I was born and reared in the shadow of Thomond Park, so you can guess which camp I'm in.
That said... I can't stand Premiership rugby. Boring, stodgy, attrition based football. The Celtic League & France Top 14 totally outclass it - as evidenced by the qualifiers for the knock out stages of the Heineken Cup.

The Heineken Cup, incidentally, is one of the greatest competitions around. It's even outshining the Six Nations these days and I never dreamt that I'd be saying that.

Sale Sharks on a freezing Friday night in February isn't a great advert for Rugby. Trust me.
