On a serious point, can you imagine the Milan clubs being allowed to do what we have been sanctioned for and the court battles that would ensue?

It's not that he believes what he's said, that should come as no surprise, so much as he feels he can come out and say it. It shows a staggering lack of self-awareness.

Italian football is struggling because it is insular, has suffered from a chromic lack of investment and has little global appeal, compared to England, Germany and Spain. FFP post-dated all of those factors coming not play. It is merely making a poorly patient worse. Removing it won't alter those fundamental flaws in the Italian game.

So his point, whilst morally questionable, is also poorly directed at curing what ails the two Milan clubs. He is as stupid, as he is odious.
