Did some running last year, culminating in the Manchester Half in October, took me just under 3 hours due to some ankle issues.
Anyway, since the start of this year, I have made a big change in eating and exercise habits..... dropped a stone and a half, and since lockdown walked on average 140km a month, mainly around the hills near Mottram, Tintwistle, Woodhead pass.
32 mins to do 5k in March, and on Saturday got that down to 27:34
I have only run 4 times since March, but the walking has helped with the fitness, and carrying 10kg less in weight makes it so much easier.
I used to feel a bit demoralised last year when I wasn’t seeing much improvement in running, but making the effort to improve diet has been the big difference.
