Running thread

If I can get out tonight I'll be up to 100km for the month. Managed 117km in December too after a long break from running (again).

Benefitting from doing a lot of easy pace long runs and some actual leg exercises to strengthen them. Managed a 5K PB last Friday night of 23.30. Considering it was after a long and painful day of work I was really pleased with that. A minute quicker than my previous PB.

Want to make a sub 50min 10k my next challenge as 52.12 is my best. But thinking with a 5K time that quick, it should be within reach and maybe I need to work on a better target.

I struggle to run without having a challenge... anyone able to throw some my way?!

Morning runs get my vote, so many positives to a morning run,
1.Theres no should I? Shouldnt I? question in your head all day.
2.The rest of the day is yours to play with.
3.Theres none of the daywalkers getting in the way every 20 yards
4.Get up early enough and the world is yours as your alone on the streets

My strava stats last year said most of my runs were between 5am and 6am, by far the best time of the day imho add a sprinkle of rain and it dont get much better!!
This all day long. 6 has been the earliest I've got out. Less traffic & pedestrians to negotiate and I feel it just sets you up for the day. I can be out, dog walked, do 5k - 5m, back home, showered and breakfast - all before 9am and ready for a days work.

Sprint intervals will help you below 50-min for 10k.

Headed up to Dovestones today.
I heard they were hassling people over the weekend due to the numbers, so have been staying away.
Week days couldn't be any different.
Two cars, there and about three small family groups spread around.

Wind, very heavy rain, shin high puddles. I was like a pig in mud. Loved it!
Managed the 5K, but i'm thankful my watch failed to record the run. I don't think i have ever run that slow.

Going again tomorrow. Might take a calendar to record my time...

Been out and done a 5k in the rain. Loved it. Realised that running slowly is making the knee sore whilst speeding up today had no issues at all!!
Heaton this morning was bliss, absolutely lashing it down, like doing a steeplechase, lol. Very few people in the park as not many were stupid enough.

Hit 105kg over Christmas so decided to go for a run for the first time in about 10 years. To my surprise I did 6km so a few days later I went again and 8km. Then I did 8 again, then 10, 11 and on Sunday I did 13km. From not running at all a few weeks ago I’m now obsessed and looking at the Valencia half marathon in Oct if my knees hold up! Madness.
Trouble is, I’m now 106kg. Proper pissing me off considering I run in the morning whilst fasting and I’m eating and drinking healthily.
