Running thread

Well I quit the cigs New Year’s Eve and have gone from 0 miles to 8 miles in 20 days. Feel loads better and I’m going to train for a marathon again. Running certainly changes my mental outlook that’s for sure
I absolutely love reading posts like this. From doing nothing to being in training for a marathon, all inside three weeks! Hat duly doffed to you mate. Keep us updated with how you're getting on. You've given me a bit of a boost ahead of this morning's long run that I'm currently trying to talk myself into doing.

How often do people wash their running shoes?

I do it once a week if it has been dry, and after every run if wet etc.
I give them a quick scrub in the kitchen sink. Rinse, then put them on a radiator.
I don't have smelly feet, but just like to keep them looking good etc.
I am way too lazy for this. My approach is to own about 4 pairs of running shoes, and, as they get older, 'relegate' them down the pecking order. So my newest ones are saved for dry days when I know they won't see any mud etc., whereas the oldest ones are used when it's rainy, muddy etc. (that's basically 99% of the time in rural Cumbria) or if I'll be party off-road, and I just have those as my dirty shoes that I don't really care about.

Never! What’s the point? On the next run they’ll just get covered in mud again..

I run round Dovestones, so it is mud and grit. If i don't completely submerge in the sink them after a wet run, there can be chunks of it inside.
So it's more to clean the inside than out etc.

When the weather's dry, i just give them a clean once a week to keep them fresh.
I was more asking if it does them any harm especially the insole etc.
