Running thread

Got a question, and this will probably sound ridiculously stupid to most but I'm suddenly realising that I'm now nowhere up to date with technology and gadgets like I once was haha...

For someone who loves music whilst running, but hates carrying a phone, do air pods or galaxy buds or such like allow me to listen to Spotify playlists and stuff without my phone being present, or do I also need a smart watch or something else to be able to do this? And, in the event of an emergency (or more likely, me going over on one of my chocolate ankles again), can I make or receive calls with said air pods/galaxy buds or smart watch etc, again without actually having my phone with me?

Sort of running related so hope this is considered the right thread, I'm lost with all this stuff haha, I just know I don't like carrying a phone about when I'm running even if its strapped to my arm or whatever, its not ideal. Cheers.
Just get yourself one of those armbands or fanny pack to sick your phone in.

I think you'd need your phone as it would lose any signal to pick up music/make calls.

I wouldn't bother investing in a watch with music though. Adds another £100+ to the price tag. Go old school and get an ipod and stick it in your pocket, or strap your phone around your arm, it's a lot cheaper and easier unless you feel you'd use the music on the watch more than just for running. I know garmin do them but I couldn't justify paying the extra for one. I am slowly getting used to running enough to maybe try it without music, but I find the music helps me ignore any pain/boredom so never leave home without it. Usually take my phone but found an old ipod in the cupboard which is a lot lighter and it's shaved minutes off my 10k PB (last bit isn't true).

Does it not show up on elasped time?

Meh, could be anything mate, used a bike, caught a bus, huge downhill? Tbh if she cheated shes only cheating herself anyway.
Theres loads like that on strava, some of the segments i do a lot have folks with the fastest time ever who clearly did not do it. Fuck em tbh not sure what there is to gain by cheating, its not the olympics or even the egg and spoon race at the local comprehensive.
