Running thread

Cheers pal. Good effort from yourself.

It is great to hit PBs and have times to aim for which helps improvement but I also think it is equally great that people are out running (no matter the time / distance) and making themselves feel better.
Guessing some of us are a little older than you.... I can’t remember being 19!!

Cracked in a slow paced 8 miles today(for the king) the slow pace was hard to find, but made it such a more chilled out run, felt like i could have gone a lot further, up to 39 miles for the year now, did just over 3000km last year so going to have to go some to beat it, but Im going to try.
Anyone else here on strava, I highly recommend it to anyone starting out, its a great motivator.

Who are you on Strava Gaz?

I'm getting really sore toes - not sure if it's the cold but the slightest knock and it feels like I've hammered my toe hard. I've also got small red marks on the underside of one toe that looks red. Thought it was a blister at first - same feel. Put vasoline on it but does not seem to shift - been about 7-8 weeks now. Thinking it's possibly chilbains or some form of issue caused by extreme cold - any ideas how to treat? I run in Hilly socks so got good materials there. Only started happening as we went into winter...

Honestly no idea mate, I run in normal socks and have no issues..

So a max of +2 degrees above freezing is forecast for tomorrow. Need to get out on a non-work day, so it’s looking like a midday run. Subzero at 9am so no point in aiming for a fake parkrun. Means I can drink a bit more of this Rioja too :-)

I’ve had 4 days off due to the weather, and having to actually do some work from home. Thought I’d take the opportunity to rest my body as this is probably the longest gap of doing nothing fitness wise for years. Can’t say I feel remotely better, lol, so fuck it I’m running on the ice tomorrow morning!

Yep me too... avoid those group 4 abreast mate.

Go for it mate. I’ll be out too, though it’ll be “late morning” for me.

Was actually alright in Heaton this morning, no ice. Pleasantly surprised. I was the only one of the family who went for run, missus and daughter came for a walk as thought it’d be too icy and son stayed in bed. They were all gutted that I’d guessed right about it being ok to run.

Not many people in the park either so all good. @inchy14

Sad to see Lightopia having to be taken down, they must have had a shit time this year with it and wished they didn’t bother.

What I notice after a rest, isn’t that I feel better after the rest, it’s that I feel like the next training session is much easier.

3-5 days is usually a good time period for rest, anymore and you start to build too many carb levels that just get converted to fat.

Spot on mate, felt good today and was quicker than I have been recently.

First run since Xmas eve for me after being a bit injured. I say run, it was more of a slow jog really and walk in places too icy. I wasn't going to run but after dropping the car off for an MOT first thing and walking back through the snow, I thought sod it, the weather's too nice.

So I got out on the trail shoes and managed a slow four miler up hilly trails and over the fields. It was perfect running on crunchy snow, wading in mud through the woods and jog/walk on icy stretches. Only feels slight discomfort after watching football this afternoon, so another few days rest and I'll go again and hopefully on the mend.
