Running thread

I tried to follow my Garmin recommended run today, which was a sprint. I started with a 15 minute warm up jog, Then it was nine sets of 10 second sprints, followed by 3 minute rests. It ended with a ten minute warm down.

Are you supposed to break into the sprints and then return to your jog, or are you supposed to rest between the sprints? In practice, I did the sprints, and walked in between them to catch my breath.

I do weekly sprint intervals (or have been recently) - 1 min on then 1-min off and just slow down to jogging pace. Managed to get up to 17 sets last year during lockdown 1 before it started taking its toll.

I'm doing it too. It will be my first and last marathon. I ran 15k yesterday and 12k today. The thought of combining these into a single run, and continuing for another 15k, to be honest, is not a nice prospect. But I didn't sign up expecting it to be easy.

I want to start running but have no inspiration, what to do?

just give it a go! 100% you will feel better for it.

take it easy at the start, have 1 or 2 tough run days

join strava

couch to 5k app

try and mix it up, go with a pal every now and then

get some headphones and killer tunes on a playlist

soon as you're ready sign up for a 5k or 10k race etc

Running is great for your body, health and mind. just do it !
