Running thread

Could any of you folks recommend a fitness watch?

ideally one that tracks steps/running speed/heartrate etc and can also be used for weight training

How do these things like to strava as well?

It's not something I've looked into at all, so keen to get some recommendations
I’ve the Garmin Fenix 6 pro solar, had it 5 years nearly without any issues whatsoever.

Nice one mate, I'd been having a look at the forerunner

Is it the 55 that you have?
I have a 55 and got it a couple of months ago from Decathlon. I have it linked to Garmin connect app to see the data collected for running or swimming.

It’s good value without being too sophisticated.

For something slightly different I’m going Wild Hybrid this Saturday in Sheffield with my wife.

10k with weight exercises after each K for the first 5k then a 5k finish.

Going to be tough in the heat and only trained for 3 weeks so decided to scale down to the lighter weights for this first event.

Be interesting to see how we get on.

Sounds great that mate, hopefully you're done and dusted before the heat kicks in

My running is going about as good as ever, can't really explain it other than just getting the balance between speed work, fitness work and races, only really been back at decent distance (at least 40k a week for me) for 3 or 4 weeks, did manage to keep ticking over whilst I dealt with injuries though. Not really been in the gym since my back injury in May, which fucked up my running for 3 or 4 weeks but still improving.

Trail race last night, really uneven and rocky, not a fan but I felt great after it.

Wilmslow 10k on Sunday, I'd like to go under 40 for the first time, my watch is predicting 39:03 and it's usually pretty close. Coming off of a 19:08 5k last week, I'd like to think I've got a chance.

Off to Cala Dor in Mallorca on Monday and hoping to get out for one or two enjoyable runs just to take in the coastal views

I've tried to look for a route, but tbh I think I'll just head out early on and see where I end up

Hoping I can get my Mrs out with me, but I reckon I'll just be dropping her off into the gym en route

Managed a 15, a 10, a 5 and 7km since Saturday and really enjoying getting out at the moment, in fact I've just looked forward to and enjoyed the majority of the runs I've done since I started running; genuinely a bit gutted that I didn't really find it until I hit 39/40, ah well better late than never

Hope you all manage to get out over the weekend

Looks good mate. Would be interested to hear how it goes.

Great running that mate.

I’ve begrudgingly accepted I need to add a bit more speed work to my training and already, along with gym work I am starting to feel the benefits. Legs feel like they have a lot more bounce in

Did a nice little session yesterday 4km at 4km pace, 2km at 4.12km pace and 2 km at 4.07 km pace with 2 min rest in between . Bit of a shock to the legs but having built up
a strong base just need a few weeks of running at a faster pace and add some sprint work

About 46:40ish for the 6.4mile trail, top 55ish out of 310, mostly club runners so a slightly higher standard of field. A lot of up and downs so tough to pace.

Wilmslow summer 10k on Sunday should be better, for me anyway, I believe the course is fairly flat, so hoping the sub 40 is on.
