Running thread

Have to do a quick check around overnight to see if there are any parkrun cancellations in the Greater Manchester area. I think Fletcher Moss can be iffy if it’s a bit wet but hopefully most will still be on so I’ll have a bit of choice.

Any cancellations will probably be down to fallen branches blocking paths rather than flooding.
As you say, Fletcher Moss sometimes gets cancelled when the Mersey gets a bit high, as does Sale Water Park.
Thought I might as well post a link to the Cancellations list here. Some local ones already off, but I’d expect this list to grow up to 7/8am tomorrow:

Isabel Trail Parkrun completed in 28:56 this morning.
Only 225 participants this morning as I guess the tourists were scared off by yesterday's drizzle and slight breeze.
I’ve gotta get myself back there pronto. Such a quick course!
Would have been plenty of space too with less numbers …

Any recommendations on trail shoes?

Might be doing 20k+ on Friday, some big climbs and sections on moorland so not overly keen on wearing usual road runners. Not likely to do loads of trail running in future, so don't want to be spending silly money.

I've currently got these in my basket at run Northwest, a steal at that price, although that colour might not last long going over moorlands1000017379.png

71 year old doing regular sub 34 minute 5K for the last few months, would like try 10K, any advice on training strategy?
Gently increase milage of one if your runs each week and see how you feel. Could try either running little longer in time.aybr little further in distance (eg add half a mile each week). That's what I did running 5k about same pace aged 62. Good luck
