Morning All
23 miles at 3.30 today
Probably my last big run before manchestee marathon now, although im running a half in Llandudno next week

Felt very leggy today but still managed a decent rime bit a bit behind the pace I want for 3.50 in the marathon.
Be disappointed if I dont do it on the day.
Hope everyone's training is going well.
Get the taper, carb-loading and race day fuel right and 3:50 should be doable.

Rome Marathon done today. My PB set in Athens last November was 4h 17m 47s. I got round the Rome course in 4h 3m 54s (official time). I actually finished over 1 minute ahead of the 4h pacer who seemed to be struggling as I ran past them so I am not surprised that my time was over 4h. Don’t get me wrong I am absolutely delighted with my finish time.

As I am a FOC that's me done with marathon's. Time to start doing half marathons now, who knows, 1 day I may do a 'back to back' half marathon :-)

And to cap it off God’s own won a trophy

Did the Wilmslow Half this morning and wasn't feeling it with hayfever/asthma and the back end of a chest infection. Great set up there and once I got going, felt great. Was aiming to complete it but did it in a shade over 2.10 which I was made up with. I genuinely take my hats off to anyone who can do a full marathon, I can't imagine doing another half after a half!!

I'm same, done few halfs and someone said at end of one, you're ready for marathon now, I replied I couldn't do another lap of that

I guess the only thing is that when I was doing 10k, the HM seemed just as far away! :D

I seem to have come down with shin splints after my 30k run, managed a couple of short runs since, but pain has been pretty bad afterwards so taking a break for a week or two. Have started to increase distance on bike and will do a 3hr ride this weekend instead of a long run.

Pretty annoying, but need to avoid making it any worse.

Went to a physio this morning for a sports massage..... wow, absolute torture some of it!!

Walk upstairs backwards as recommended by Gaz76.

Like being asked to go to the stores for a long stand when I was an apprentice. I didn't fall for that one.

But I did fall for a the donning of multiple items of PPE and clothing to feed the robotic welder. Helmet, gloves, glasses, welding mask, boots, coat etc. To be donned and removed in the holding bay between the robot welding bay and the parts store. Several times an hour one morning.

Hmm. I thought there was some biomechanical rationale behind it and wasn't just a Gaz76 batshit idea. I've advised my daughter and a fella at work to do this in recent months.....
Hahaha!!

Ok ok there is a bit of theory, if I recall correctly I advised whoever It was to try walking the stairs backwards to help with a calf strain, it has worked for me before, the theory being it helps stretch the muscle back the opposite way it went.
Whether or not it helps with shin splints we will have to wait for smevchenko to confirm

I've a load of tartan paint and a couple of sky hooks if yer interested?
My best was telling an apprentice we had to test the range of an old alarm box in the middle of London on a market day, took it off the outside wall and it started screaming away and he had to get walking counting his steps, he came back about an hour or so later with a silent box and was told to throw it in the skip
