Rush or The Scorpions?

Wind of change wouldn’t make the Scorpions top 50, and probably not the Rush top 100.
Every time I see this thread though it just makes me think what an odd thread it is and why would the Scorpions be picked out of all the bands to compare to Rush.
Agree.
I wouldn’t have them in the same sentence.

Don’t exactly disagree with you. Who do you reckon Rush should be compared to in a thread then?

Tough question.
They are very unique.
Started out as heavy rock but always had more to them than that. Went through Prog, even had a brush with a reggae beated rock.
They chopped and changed and did their own thing.

Peart wrote great thoughtful lyrics.
I actually preferred stuff they did after 2112 when they seemed to progress into what I considered more mature subject matter.

Still totally different, but I’d go down a Wishbone Ash type of road for a comparison rather than Scorpions.

Tough question.

Definately not Wishbone Ash, They were a great band that I'd put on the Traffic bracket.
As I said before , simple question...who's your favourite?

Not sure who to compare Rush to as they were pretty unique.
I would probably compare the scorpions with twisted sister, poison or cinderella.

Agreed on Rush - maybe Muse??
With Scorps as well as Rush, I guess you need to compare them to a band of similar longevity

Led Zeppelin plus Yes for 70s Rush. Haven't heard the later stuff enough to compare to anyone, but less Zeppelin that's for sure.

Tricky they are pretty unique in how ther straddle the hard rock / prog genres and appeal to both sets of fans. Of the top of my head would throw in Jethro tull if I was creating a thread so Rush or Jethro Tull.

As someone else said you need similar longevity for comparison. I did think of Jethro Tull, but they are still vastly different.
Idahoblue is right in saying Wishbone Ash are completely different but that’s the longevity route I was thinking.

Anyway in answer to the original question. Definitely Rush over the Scorpions for me. No contest.
