Russian invasion of Ukraine

It would be world war 3 with or without nuclear weapons fired.

So the solution is to sit and watch one country with nuclear weapons do whatever the fuck they want as he says I am readying my nuclear armament and like I said, Georgia next, Finland? Do we just keep watching on the news?
If he touches a nato country then game on but with ukraine there is a much bigger picture to consider for the world , heartbreaking to watch this , i half hope we call putins bluff but has he gone mad or just a **** , difficult to know

IT is moving beyond a NATO country, that was kind of my point.

It shouldn't matter now that Ukraine isn't a NATO country, we can't just keep standing by wringing our hands as their country is bombed to pieces and innocent people keep losing their lives.

Usual caveats that none of the below is verified.

Russians have been defeated in Mykolaiv, lots of vehicles and equipment left behind’ @KyivIndependant

(The Governor of this region, Vitaliy Kim, getting a lot of plaudits.)

Reports that Ukraine now has more forces in total than Russia on the ground in Ukraine.

And this...(abandoned vehicles clip)

So we keep standing by while he annihilates Ukraine and then what, start trading with Russia again next year?

If it leads to an escalated war then so be it, you can not let dictators do this, if nuclear weapons existed in 1939 would the world have sat ideally by while Hitler killed every fucking Jew he could get his hands on?

There isn't a lot of difference right about now, he is murdering innocent people while we watch on the news, trembling he may or may not press the button.

Will we still be trembling when he rolls into Finland, Georgia and whichever other country he fancies taking back into Russian hands.
The sanctions will be the end to him, even if he did take Ukraine, he simple does not have the money or resources to invade another country. Ukraine will drag on and on, and they will simply run out of money.

Just to think a month ago the Ukrainians were living their normal lives, completely unaware that their country that they’ve grown up in and love was soon to be demolished.

I know what it means for all of us if ourselves and our allies stepped in, but at what point do you say enough is enough?

I genuinely think they're going to win.

The Russian losses are staggering, they're on course to match the USA's 20 years of losses in Vietnam by mid-May.

Their airforce is getting decimated by the Stingers that arrived this week.

Their soldiers are so much better equipped, they are so much more motivated, have higher morale.

Domestically, the stock market has to open soon and every Russian is going to see their savings and pensions wiped out. More and more western companies are being pressured into boycotts and pulling out.

That's a very simplistic armchair view. There would be good reasons why gas and oil supplies can't suddenly be cut off and why it's advisable to allow at least minimal banking transactions.

You're talking about countries operating and being responsible for millions of it's citizens, this is a little more complex than banning somebody from the local pub.
Indeed. Countries like Finland, who are a bit cold at the moment, are 100% reliant on Russian gas…

That is not how it works unfortunately , i agree with how horrible this is to watch , we are helpless , not one NATO country wants to get involved with a war with a mad man , all we can do is hope and pray
