I wonder if the concentration in the Donbass will be pivotal now, if the Russians can secure those areas then push out from there instead of fighting on a few fronts they can get their supply lines sorted and then push north better. From what I’ve read the Ukrainian army down there could get encircled if they get wiped out that’s a massive loss and could make defending the rest of the Ukraine very hard.

The could then focus on taking the south of the country and cut Ukraine off from the sea. Czech Republic sending tanks is an interesting development if it causes the Russians to start lashing out at NATO countries, if they don’t fuck it and let the Ukrainians have the American’s B2 stealth bombers.

Sense that having failed to conquer the entire country, Putin will now seek to consolidate in Luhansk and Donetsk (with the shale-gas fields) and then slowly work his way west to Transnistria. That would secure a contiguous mass and effectively landlock Ukraine, thus depriving it of access to the sea and force it to surrender its offshore energy riches as well. Putin would then have most of the energy sources in that region, on top of what he already has, and access to the Black Sea as well. He could then leave the EU with the empty husk of whatever remains of Ukraine and the eye-watering cost of rebuilding it, which would take at least a generation. Sure, we Europeans will have weaned ourselves off Russia's energy supplies, but he'll have even greater stores and captive markets in India and China. Hope and pray that I'm wrong and that Ukraine can prevail.
