Russian invasion of Ukraine

The Russians never ended up getting air superiority which has enabled Ukraine to come back at them. The air defence systems they have been provided with by NATO have helped massively with that. As it gets to winter both sides won’t be able to move artillery and rocket systems round the battlefield as easily, wonder if the F16s they have been promised will come into play dropping bombs on Russian positions.
Air superiority is vital in modern warfare, just look at the last few conflicts the French got involved in.

I doubt they will and F-16's are a poor choice really. They're good in dogfights but they aren't very capable in terms of bombs and air support is what Ukraine really needs to take a lot of territory. It might help give them the edge in the air but Russia can turn the taps on that anytime they want, there hasn't really been an air battle to win. They'd also have to be based somewhere where they'd be vulnerable to Russian cruise missiles.

It's amazing how this war has changed modern warfare because a year ago we'd all say that the next war will be over within days because of the air forces and technology involved but it has been the opposite. Everything about this war has been about territory, ground forces, people and the capability of vehicles like tanks.

Ukraine have been very successful because they are really well trained and well resourced on the ground even despite having less people. Russia meanwhile has zero experience and they've been constantly bogged down due to poor tactics and poor equipment at the lowest level.

It's incredible that in the 21st century the army of the worlds 5th largest defence spender invaded a smaller neighbouring country and was slowed and frustrated because their tanks and vehicles ran out of petrol!
Russians haven't had air superiority and have been terrified to chance taking it, it's why the cunts are losing.

The Russians somehow managing to get some supply's through.

Slava Ukraini.

They're bringing in the 1990s Arsenal back four. Adams, Bould, Winterburn and Dixon are now mercenaries and are reported to be ready to use the offside trap 'without hesitation'. The UN has condemned this move as a breach of human rights.

True, this is the first war in a very long time where no side has made significant use of fighter bombers. Makes you wonder what technology they have that is putting them of.

Or it could just be that the Russian air force is made up of friends and family of the Russian elite who never thought they would ever have to fly anywhere dangerous and the thought of losing men and machines is just too much for Putin to risk.

That's my thoughts tbh.
