Russian invasion of Ukraine

Remember when I said 'people don't realise how close we are to escalation'?

If that missile had ended up in the wrong bit of sky at the wrong time we could be having a very different discussion right now (or maybe not even having the discussion at all).

Go on then. Extrapolate that out. Explain to us how Russia shooting down an RAF plane would lead to us not having this discussion at all...presumably meaning we'd all be dead.

The reality is if that missile hit, we'd send more, better aid to Ukraine. That's it.

Actually the fact that Russia nearly shot down an RAF plane and you didn't even hear about it for a month shows how far away we are from escalation doesn't it?

Thats one scenario, certainly the most level headed one. Another is we then shoot down the plane that hit ours, Russia send more planes in to try to retaliate causing a snow balling escalation.

Im guessing this near miss is why we now send 2 fighter jets to shadow our spy planes.

It's the only realistic scenario.

The report i read said that although in the same airspace, neither plane was in visual range.
And it was a "release" of a missle, not aimed or targeted at our aircraft.

Probably going through menu's preparing it and pressed "enter" whilst looking for the "any key"...

Still dangerous, as any release could be.

Aside from some 1960's era MiG's, does Russia HAVE any more planes left?

It really depends how 'immediate' the UK response would have been if it happened.

It happens. We weren't on opposing sides of the argument when that happened. Red on Blue is a different matter altogether.
I appreciate that but the fact remains if r on r can happen and apparently be acceptable surely r on b is just as possible and what's more be seen by both sides as sometimes accidental?
