Russian invasion of Ukraine

If you’ve got a link I wouldn’t mind reading it.

Had a quick look, struggling to find it. I want to say it was a link within an article from either of the RUSI or British Defence Journal websites but it's possible I was on an academic account and when I should have been reading about nonverbal communication I was looking at other stuff!

In trying to find it though, I did come across this. Don't know the guys credentials but it's at least a two thirds overlap with the paper i was reading...it's not as specific but less dry and is saying something quite similar.

If I find the other one I'll post it.

There is a huge issue with that unfortunately.

Our armed forces and theirs are so inrtinsically linked right now, there really can't be such a "break". It's not just about the leaders.

From a training point of view we are regularly training together, both over there, and in the UK (Europe), this can't be simply ended overnight by us, even trump would struggle to do it, and he'll be firmly advised by their military leaders (no mater who he sacks/promotes) that it can't be done, it will take years.

It's not just us either, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, are all in the same position, their whole armed forces are similiraly linked (embedded) within the US armed forces, in training, operations, and equipment.
Anybody still in the mob?
Are the US coast guard stokers and greenies still on the 23’s.

It's all good what the EU are trying to do until you realise that...
THE EU IS PAYING MORE TO RUZZIA FOR OIL AND GAS THAN IT IS PAYING UKRAINE In Military Aid. A whopping £23bn in 2024
(So excluding Norway and UK)

In effect, the EU is funding Russia's war machine to a higher level than Ukraine.
Just let that sink in for a moment.

Another good reason for opening our own gas fields fracking and coal mines

We are dealing with madmen here, who knows what they will do. Since 9/11 this whole world has become dangerous. A person can only state things they believe in from their experience through life. I’m putting my perspective forward.

Are we ever told the truth? Not in my experience.

Have previous ill thought out wars solved anything? Not in my experience.

Have they made things worse? In some cases definitely yes.

Have ordinary people suffered? Yes

Has the war made people safer? No

Has war made a lot of industrialists, politicians etc richer? Yes

Can you trust leaders? For part of my life I had trust in them, now I most definitely don’t. That’s coming from my experience.

That’s where I’m coming from.
Back to the 'Trust no-one. Then be taken in by the strongman extreme view' tactic...

Yawn...

I despise Donald Trump. Evil, evil bastard.

Americans…. Hang your heads in shame. How could you vote this horrible, rapist bastard into the White House?

He has alienated your biggest allies and he’s going to ruin your economy with his trade wars.

You will feel the effects of this betrayal for generations.
100% total agreement. He is the embodiment of EVERYTHING that is wrong in this world.

Why and how are so many psychopaths (clinical sense, not just name calling) allowed to be, and then remain, in control of so many things in the world?

How many times throughout history have this sort of person (people) been allowed to carry out their egotistical power grabbing actions which actually threatened to END the WORLD?

It's insane.

Fit and suitable test for world leaders - they all need to sit down with a team of psychologists, have a full mental health analysis carried out on them. Any signs of anything harmful to the population and they unfortunately have to go and choose a different career (possibly dictated by the psychologist, as they might be able to devise life plans which keep these mentally ill bastards from fucking it all up for the rest of us)

Some decent Americans on here, as their good name/nationality gets dragged through the sewer by their government I think I'll start referring to them as our FWBs (Far Western Blues) to differentiate them from some of the koolaid addled headbangers we occasionally get.

Sky news had the Ex/President of Ukraine on yesterday he was critical of Zelenskyy wants Zelenskyy to “apologise”

Re/arm Europe plan £800 billion increase defence capabilities thereby it will help/benefit Ukraine, NO mention of rare earth minerals. No question which way Europe is leaning towards Ukraine and away from the WH

They were totally shit soldiers in WW2.

Monte Casino. A strategic hill where the Germans were dug in.
British soldiers attacked and captured it. As they looked to move on it was handed over to the Americans who promptly lost it. Unfortunately, not down the back of the sofa, they lost it to the Nazis.
It was down to the British army to come back and retake it.
They were no better in the 1980's when I was told a great story by an ex army bloke.
Im sure the Polish army took it? or maybe NZ

This is an excellent response from the EU.....What is ours?

This is why we need to keep a foot on their throats. The country is fucked. Interest rates at 21 percent.
I agree with that, I've heard their defence spending right now is roughly 40% of their total budget and more than 1/3 of the industry is military re-aligned.
EU needs to help Ukraine with maximum effort to resupply them with any military equipment and what is realistically possible, because they are prepared to continue fighting. And to continue upscaling their military capabilities, Russia's economy is coming down crushing.
Unfortunately there are three problems EU (or Europe, when we include us) is facing:
- even now they are not able even to think set themselves free of USA defence umbrella
- related to that, US administration with the presidency and both houses do not exist. That's what my relatives living in Kentacky telling me we in Europe do not get. There is no US president, there is Trump. There is is no US administration, there is only Trumps' MAGA/America First inner circle who are basically our enemies. There is no GOP and Senate/Congress, just a bunch of sycophant's prepared to kneel down and kiss the ring, almost like at Stallin's court. And do not get me on Democrats.
- taxes will need to go up, or restructuring of the current tax system in majority of EU states will need to be done. That means convincing public or fighting coorporate world. Good luck with that!

It was the 8th Army (including my Dad) and the US 5th, so pretty much the world and his wife. It took 3 or 4 separate offensives to capture it. In the decisive assault the Polish 12th, who suffered very heavy casualties, raised the first flag followed by the British. British, Polish, American, French, Indian, Canadian, NZ and South African troops were all involved maybe some North African divisions too?
