Russian invasion of Ukraine

Boris Johnson on European reactions to invasion:

No surprise.
France still in denial.
Still at least Germany have been forced by their electorate to come to terms with the invasion and provide some military support.
Both still need to pull their fingers out though, which is a bit depressing.

Britain has done the right thing in Ukraine, and Johnson deserves his part of the credit for that.

But his long history of lying for self aggrandisment would lead me to treat such claims with due scepticism. To put it mildly.

Cant NATO just ' do stuff ' and deny it, the Russians seem more than capable and seem to get away with it. Or am I just being an old romantic at heart.
Agree. The perfect opportunity to test out all of the latest military tech.

And why the reluctance to go after Russian assets on Russian soil. Why not send some Ukrainians over the border.

31 missiles flew at Kyiv, 21 of which were shot down.

These people really are the absolute scum of the earth.

Whilst these attacks are surely born of the desperation of losing on the battlefield that doesn't make them any less damaging.

A couple of posters have suggested that both Boris and Sunak visited Zelinsky for self aggrandisement purposes. Nothing could be further from the truth. The reason Boris is a hero in Ukraine is not just the military and humanitarian aid UK gave, but he worked tirelessly in persuading others particularly Germany and France to support Ukraine. On the day of his last visit UK had a foreign office team in every major capital in Western Europe to reinforce the message. It is important that western leaders are seen to visit: it boosts morale of Ukrainian public and sends a message to Russia that we are still in the fight and intend to stay there. Whenever we have a new PM (roughly every 6 weeks) he/she must go there to signal nothing has changed. Give credit where it’s due, even to a Tory!
Johnson’s support of Ukraine is the best thing he’s done in his career.

They can give enough kit to Ukraine to make sure a Ukrainian victory happens.
As much Anti-Missile and Anti-Drone kit as possible with buckets and buckets of Artilary and Ammo will do tge job.
Germany and especially France need to pull their fingers out.

Johnson doing it for self-aggrandising reasons and doing it because the UK governments position is that we needed to give as much aid to Ukraine as possible are not mutually exclusive.

We know he took trips to Ukraine to coincide with missing PMQ's and days where he scandals broke.

As far as I'm aware, the UK's commitment and support of Ukraine both materially and in terms of lobbying other countries for support has not decreased since Johnson resigned.

The people of Ukraine love him because they saw a bried snapshot of Boris Johnson, when the war is over and they know about his corruption and friendliness with Russian Oligarchs and disinformation campaigns they'll probably lose the shine.
