Russian invasion of Ukraine

I’m no Tory but seems to me our govt are making a reasonable fist of supplying Ukraine. Be good to see how the various new tanks and missile systems affect the war.
Sadly 14 is nowhere near enough.
3 squadrens (3×14=42) is the bare minimum needed to actually make a difference.
Still 447 were built but we only have 227 currently in service. There is also an issue with ammunition. The production lines are shut and all we have is stock.
Not a good idea to fight a war.

Sil has also fallen to the Russians....Sil,...the little bit North of Soledar.
They are trying to push to the West.
This is all wide open ground.

Slava Ukraini.

Then afford them the 227 with all our remaining stock.

Sending tanks and artillery guns to Ukraine to bolster the country's war effort will leave the British Army weaker, its chief has said.

Gen Sir Patrick Sanders said that Ukraine would put British donations to "good use" in the fight with Russia, in an internal message sent to troops and seen by the BBC.

But he warned that it would also leave the British Army "temporarily weaker".

The UK has committed to sending 14 Challenger 2 tanks to the frontline.

Around 30 AS90s - large, self-propelled guns - are also expected to be delivered.

Fourteens a token gesture, but if everyone in the NATO forces pulled their proverbial fingers out then we could easily escalate that number to a number of battalions .. that could actually make a difference.

Re making us weaker .. either we are weak or we are weaker, both phrases do not spit of confidence. Like I said give them our tanks and make an actual statement of intent:

We've a Royal Navy, albeit a much reduced Royal Navy and a very good Air Force, combined with a nuclear deterrent, and little chance we'll be fighting tank battles on UK soil any time soon. This is no time to be dilly dallying as token gestures will not force the c**t to the negotiating table.

When will we need them though, I can’t see the Republic of Ireland trying to invade us. The Challenger was built to fight a Russian army marauding over mainland Europe, if we don’t let the Ukrainians have these tanks to turn the tide we will have a lot more to worry about than being 14 tanks down.
