The tactics have changed to many waves of meat in small units 10 or so strong coupled with totally wiping out building strong points nearby with shelling as these tend to totally prevent the human wave tactics from working.
Ukraine needs lots more artillary and drones to counter this.

At Bakhmut,the Russians have sent their best men forward today...no cannon fodder,all naval infantry,marines and Spetsnaz.
They are all asleep.
