They did. They'd already been fighting around Crimea for 8 years when this new invasion began and what they had was shitty Soviet gear. Probably thought stockpiling any NATO standard arms would provoke the Russians.

Biggest piece of equipment they had in Avdiivka,when my cousin got there in 2015,was mortars.

To be fair to that caller we've had a fair few that have come on this thread and have excused russian actions since they invaded with far more deluded arguments than previous U.S./Western actions on the global stage in the past.... NATO one always gets a good laugh

There seems to be a section of society that just have an attention seeking need to be contrarian for the sake of it, they create a bombshell narrative and work backwards to extrapolate snippets of recent and ancient history which are taken out of context then sew them together to back up their theory that russia had no choice but to invade a Sovereign country.

That "Putin supporter" wasn't put in his place, he was silenced by a right wing arsehole, the kinda right wing arsehole you usually despise. The guy calling in seemed to have very little to substantiate what few things he did manage to splutter, in the micro seconds he got between Ferrari's rants, but we'll never know how misguided or profound he was, as he never got the chance to finish a sentence.
