I know of,not personally,of people from the US,Canada,Belarus,Estonia,Poland,UK,a lot from Socotland in that,Austrailia,New Zealand....fuckin all over the world.
They just rocked up to ukraine and said"i'll have some of this"
War.....killing,dying,not even their country,but willing to give everything,including life up for it.

Unfortunately one part of that story is that the Russians are learning from their mistakes and consolidating their forces rather than allowing them to spread out too far and become isolated.

I dont think they are,we may,hopefully get some good news from Bakhmut in the next day or 2.

Most will be military vetrans, and will enjoy being involved in conflict.

I have no idea what motivates people like that, and I work with (not in) the military.

I despise conflict to be honest, just that my job of 44 years supports the military.

Could make the analogy with firefighters or natural disasters specialist rescue teams. They like helping out and war is their specialism.

Think there is certainly an element with an unhealthy need for violence or hero complexes though. There was one that deserted his regiment in the UK and died in Ukraine, strikes me as a real life Lieutenant Dan (only he was successful).

My wife’s cousin from south wales spent the early months fighting for Ukraine he’s since left to join the the French foreign legion (I know crazy fcuker)

His grandfather was from Lyviv, he’s not in a relationship and was feeling rock bottom in life so just upsticks. His mum hadn’t seen or heard from in for 6 months when he eventually phoned from Ukraine to inform the family he’s fighting for the legion.
