Russian invasion of Ukraine

I think what is happening around bakhmut is fairly self evident. It's very difficult to attack an entrenched defensive line. The Russians should be using artillery from distance. As they are not, most likely due to a shortage of amo and on the basis everything they fire then gets hit with a more sophisticated UKR weapon, things are moving slow. If they are just sending wave after wave of infantry, convicts and conscripts with rifles, then they will be facing huge losses.

From a UKR perspective it makes sense to hold out as long as they can as they will be doing immense damage. And if the tables turn and the Russians take the town then they will justbget blown to shit by artillery.

Not according to the guy they have on sky every day , lord dannet , the ukranians are looking to do a retreat whilst they can
Yes similar to Mariupol but Ukraine insist they’ve left one road out but blown all the bridges to stop any advance by the Rus’
I’m not sure TV know what’s happening on the ground.

I know this thread is primarily about the military aspect, but I was thinking today of the early days TV footage of that Ukrainian guy sobbing at the train station, saying goodbye to his wife and child. I often wonder what happened to him.

My Gran once told me of when she was taking her 6 year old niece (whose own Mother was Polish and Lithuanian ancestry) somewhere and they were told to stop to let a line of escorted German POW men through. My second cousin (my grans niece) has always looked quite German/east European and my Gran remembered one POW looking at her and tears forming in his eyes. She probably reminded him of his own little girl, back in Germany.

The horrors of war are incalculable.

not too long before we see this from the second best army in the world
