Russian invasion of Ukraine

Get Ukraine in NATO as soon as realistically possible.

They won’t ever be given membership whilst this conflict is ongoing.

At no point will NATO put itself into a position it has to go to war with Russia over this and rightly so.

Supply of training, weapons, tactics etc is as far as it is ever going to go for now.

Slightly off topic.

Such a shame the A-10 Warthog isn’t being given to Ukraine. It would absolutely decimate Russian forces on the ground. And open up the Russian defensive line, allowing Ukrainian forces to move forward, and more importantly saving Ukrainian Soldier lives.

what you say is correct but I agree with the sentiment of Ukraine being a member asap. Having seen the atrocities carried out by Russia, I would think many NATO countries are hoping the same too and would consider a fast track membership once feasible to do. That maybe with an entry criteria modified a little to accommodate that. Hoping so anyway

Didn't @SPIDERBOY post the other day that the Ukrainian pilots had received training on these platforms?

These are devasting to ground troops and armour, the Russians would run for the hills if they heard that whine coming in, unreal aircraft.

Unfortunately as been discussed before I think
“The A-10 is an incredible tank-killing machine,” Breedlove tells TIME. But it works best in environments where enemy aircraft and anti-aircraft batteries have been neutralized. “If you were flying for an air force that had a really good capability to do suppression of enemy air defenses, jamming, noise jamming, specific targeting radar jamming, and doing all those things to make the target area more permissive, you might be able to work A-10s into a high threat or a medium threat arena, but the Ukrainians do not have that capability at all,” Breedlove says.

That’s right. You need air superiority first to deploy A-10s or they’ll get shot down. That’s exactly what happened in Iraq but Ukraine do not have the capability to achieve this, which means they have to do it the hard way with ground based artillery and surface to surface missiles.
