Russian invasion of Ukraine

The propaganda from both sides is overwhelming and I would think both sides have taken enormous losses in personnel , that can only go on for so long and with winter not far over the horizon a stalemate is approaching.
I do wonder how this will end, if they push Russia completely out of Ukraine, will Russia just continue to lob missiles over the border? At some point they will have to talk, won’t they? Hopefully once Putin is removed it can be done. Then get Ukraine in NATO ASAP.

The reality is in most wars/conflicts negotiation is the only solution and things will probably stay as they were pre War.

Hundreds of thousands of lives lost, and what for? A dick waving contest in terms of the Russians.

The damage they are doing to their economy with the ruble being worthless as well. Is it something like a third of the country’s entire overall budget is being chucked at this war? Russia with its resources should be a prosperous country (its economy was smaller than Ukraine’s before the war). The corrupt people at the top have siphoned all this wealth off and has the majority of the country living in abject poverty.

"The corrupt people at the top have siphoned all this wealth off and has the majority of the country living in abject poverty."

Sadly that's becoming a reality for a lot of countries in the world including our own, obviously with the likes of Russia it is blatant and clearly the Ukraine has serious corruption issues.

I mean the NATO part is just blindingly obvious - as with the rockets that killed civilians in Poland and may or may not have been Ukrainian, their main task is to avoid getting involved at any cost - let’s be honest, Russian could be halfway to Warsaw and NATO would send a strongly written letter rather than invoking chapter 6.

The main point of note is the change of message - we have been constantly told that the slow pace of advance was to save lives and equipment, but now it’s being admitted that lives and equipment are being haemorrhaged, and still Ukraine havent broken though the first lines of defence.

As said repeatedly this summer, the biggest risk is the ability to keep delivering large packages of support - Slovakia who were one of the first big supporters of Ukraine look likely to re-elect a Putin puppet at the end of this month, Poland and Netherlands have elections later this year with Croatia, Finland, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Romani, Slovakia, the EU itself and of course America having elections next year which is going to of course make it harder to secure regular support packages of the level in 2022 & 2023.
not sure where you got the part about not through the 1st line of defence, they have nearly finished with the 2nd line, the first line according to what i've read were 3 times as strong as the 2nd and 3rd lines, once the collapse happens and it will happen ukraine will really start to pick where , when and what to attack

Novoprokopovka has fallen to Ukrainian forces.
I'll give you the Ukrainian Telegram account version that culls interesting nuggets of infotmation from Russian Telegrram channels...

In English:

The Armed Forces of Ukraine recaptured Novoprokopovka, they are fighting for Verbove. Ukrainian army 20 km from Tokmak
According to reports from the Tokmak direction, Russian troops, under pressure from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, surrendered a 6 km wide section of the front between Rabotino and Verbovo. According to one of the Russian servicemen: “the teeth of Surovikin (a defensive line of anti-tank obstacles “dragon's teeth”) almost without a fight, six kilometers wide, surrendered, at the same time someone pro..balled Novoprokopovka.”
Fighting is going on in the center of the village of Verbovoye. To the west of Rabotino is a gray zone, Russian positions in the Kopanei area are under threat of being bypassed from the southeast.
The road to Tokmak of the Ukrainian army is blocked by two villages: Ilchenkovo and Sladkaya Balka. They stand on the highway to Tokmak and Melitopol. From Ilchenkovo to Tokmak - 19 kilometers. Russian troops are trying to hold on to their positions, but the staff officers stationed in Genichesk look at these attempts with skepticism. “Reserves thrown in to close the gap near Rabotino have been used up. The enemy exerts constant pressure and, by all indications, can increase it. In this case, the troops stationed east of Verbovo will leave for Bilmak (Kamyanka). Tokmak will be abandoned, Melitopol may be under threat,” says one of the staff officers located in Genichesk.
According to civilian interlocutors in Tokmok and Melitopol, documents from the prosecutor's office, the police, and the investigative committee are being taken out of both cities. Seconded FSB officers left Tokmok a few days ago (command staff and officers).
A source from the presidential administration working in the occupied part of the Zaporozhye region said that the “early elections” held on September 2 in Tokmak and other settlements of Zaporozhye were needed solely in order to have time to provide positions and mandates to local collaborators and Russians who came for career prospects before how the territories will be liberated by the Ukrainian army.
“The UVP (Department of Internal Policy) should report that the elections went according to plan. And what about Ukraine in the presidential administration again in a week and the Kremlin doesn’t fuck anyone,” says an official of the presidential administration who worked in the “elections” in these areas.
@Volyamedia

There is a lot of crap out there in Telegram land but this one is pretty good and most things are reported elsewhere in a day or so.

Russian spin is that UA has only taken the "forward" line of defence and is putting pressure on the real 1st line, Lassel seems to be using pro Russian terminology which speaks volumes! It's wrong to think of isolated 1st 2nd 3rd etc lines of defence, this just seems to be something talked about by western bloggers and are identified from satalite images, between each of those aparent fortified lines are more hidden connected defences such as along tree lines, each has to be cleared and even if there aren't many orcs defending them it still takes time. Ukraine has overcome the first fortified defenses they've come across, they seem to have progressed through a network of intermediate defenses and we seem to be getting reports that they are now pushing through another line of stronger fortified defenses.
As for the losses, this is a particularly brutal war, when you consider the types of weaponry used by both sides, of course the losses are going to be huge, this is precisely why the UA is doing as much as it can to limit those losses.

...
This narrative has been invented to stop Western support and been repeated often enough in the media to make it "reality". It's not.

I never found the list of wars that have been ended by negotiations. Most wars have been decided by the situation on the battle field and settled by following negotiations where the winner told the loser how to move on from there in some kind of contract.

Sorry to distract the thread, I just wanted to stop this wrong claim to be repeated again. I never bought it, and it took some time before top German historians had the courage to correct this view on prime time tv.

Vlad C Nesbit. What the fuck is the mad, pissed-up **** talking about?
Agreed “look at what they say on the internet”
haha ! That’s where he gets his education, the internet hope he reads what I say about him and Russia currently murdering hundreds of Ukraine citizens and destroying millions of lives there should be at least one man in the Kremlin who can shut this mad man up and bring home the troops.
