Russian invasion of Ukraine

But that argument surely falls down when you factor in that they have already tried to destroy it at least twice. I'm no military expert, but I've read enough books to understand that if you cut an Armies supply routes and starve it of ammunition, food and supplies it becomes ineffective. Its happened dozens of times in numerous conflicts throughout the world.
The important part of my post,
regarding previous attacks is ‘I don’t believe Ukraine doesn’t now have the capability to knock it out for a longterm period or destroy it’

All conjecture I suppose but depends on why Ukraine either failed to cut the bridge initially or deliberately showed it could do so.

I know armament avaiilability and strategies are constantly changing so neither side know if it maybe relevant in the future so Ukraine prefers to keep it as an option.

So why don't they then. Sorry but with all due respect no-one on this forum who thinks they can take it out has provided any reasonable rational as to why they haven't done so.

You’re not a military strategist. Sometimes you have to deviate from doctrine to gain an advantage

OnI of the longest standing military doctrine ( art of war stuff ) is always leave a way out or your enemy will have no choice but to fight to the death.

Not sure how this applies to the Russians with the fact they seem to shoot people retreating mind you.

Would be good if Ukraine could take out just the rail side of the bridge, at least that leaves the general public a way out.

You haven’t provided any argument to say they cannot??
Well Mossi, the mere fact that they have been hitting all other supply routes and ammo dumps wherever possible as reported by the guys on here on a weekly basis. And the fact that they have tried to destroy the bridge and it was repaired pretty quickly. Leads me to assume that they have decided they can't fully destroy it with the ordnance that they have. It's a reasonable conclusion is it not??

Why leave it standing if you could destroy it. It makes absolutely no sense at all.
