FRONTLINE 22-23 JAN
Sinkyvka in the northern sector is under intense pressure as the Russians seem to have decided this is this is the point that will break this part of the front. Combat has been intense - so much so it was commented on specifically by Ukraine’s General Staff.
The Russian breakthrough at Krocmalne has opened up an area of advance and they seem to have been making small advances westward.
However this is all costing Russia dearly with 7,055 dead so far in this sector this month alone.
Further south at Avdivka Russian claims of advances are partially true and even then concerning, but the extended claims they’ve made are still disputed without evidence to back them up.
Down at Krynky the Russians are publishing videos decrying their commanders, conditions and treatment. They consider their position untenable and feel they’re not being properly supported. They say Ukraine shells them day in day out and that it’s Ukraine that dominated the skies with drones. Of course they could always surrender!
In other developments it’s becoming clear that the Ukrainians have rattled the Russians with drone strikes on oil and gas facilities as far away as St Petersburg. Other strikes on arms production sites have also started to cause concern inside Russia. The problem is they simply don’t have the means of defending so many targets over such vast distances.
Another development Ukraine has been aware of is increasing sophistication in Russian KH-101 missiles - these have been using increasingly complex EW systems and counter measures. The Russians are also due to field a new missile designed specifically to strike Ukraine with an 800kg warhead but shorter range - it’s cheap and basic by all accounts and designed for volume - overwhelming defences.
Elsewhere the Baltic states and Poland are noticing a loss of GPS signals during the NATO large scale exercise in the area. The interference is being generated by a powerful Russian jamming facility in the Kaliningrad exclave.
Slava Ukraini !
