Hi you did. I'm a little old fashioned I know, but I think the UK needs a bit of a reality check as we've gone a bit soft. Far too many people now expect something for nothing.

For example, unemployment is down, but the ammount of people on disability benefit has virtually doubled the past 25 years to nearly 6.5million. In a society where people are healthier and living longer in general, that doesn't stack up to me.

If it means an all party consensus to increase the defense budget and save money by getting the millions of slackers off the health and welfare gravy train then so be it. I know ive simplified the problem massively but it's a big issue that needs addressing imo.

I know wrong subject,But that disability malarkey is a laugh. They park in the disable spots go into the gym row,bike and a few miles on the treadmill Its something any government cant alter do to the outrage of the real disabled people..

I don’t think they do, majority of your time can spent overseas on deployment the less personnel the more deployments you get, that isn’t conducive to a good home/family life, fantastic if your single but as you get older not so much. Pensions have been changed as have all public sector pensions to an average so unless you get up that food chain quick it’s not that good. Single life has been eroded with shit accommodation and pay as you dine all things that were given for free back in the day. Discipline is the biggest factor, outside there doesn’t seem to be much so lots of the “younger” generations can’t take a bollocking.
They don’t want long term people either it costs too much in pensions do they want you to come in do 10 years or so and move on, unfortunately they don’t have a conveyor belt if volunteers do it doesn’t work, what they need to sell it as is come in learn a trade for free and then the worlds your oyster, infantry unless you want to become a mercenary doesn’t really offer that though and that’s what we will need if the Ukraine war is anything to go by.

We have to prepare ourselves from the Russian threat that France seem to take seriously I do too, every day the US delay aid to Ukraine brings the prospect of Ukraine falling to Russia closer they are the ones dying every day and we should be preparing our own military for a future of Russia on our doorstep

We are energy independent and have most of the natural resources we need to survive quite well. In fact, I’m struggling to think of ANYTHING we really need from Europe.
