Zelensky announced yesterday that the AFU plan to create a "buffer zone" in the Kursk region. This essentially means that the occupied territories will be held, with forces digging in and fortifying positions in the captured settlements. It also suggests that the offensive will continue, and we can likely expect attacks on other sections of the Ukraine-Kursk border. The establishment of a military administration now makes sense, as it indicates that these territories are not being occupied for just a few weeks - this is a combined-arms operation with long-term plans, likely extending at least until the beginning of next year.
