Yes, agreed on the Treaty of Versailles point, but Germany wasn’t allow to keep any land it had stolen as part of that treaty.

The sanctions should certainly be revisited if Russia gives the land back. It can’t be all carrot and no stick.

As you suggest, as with much of this conflict, it’s an extremely complex balancing exercise.
