Russian invasion of Ukraine

Whether it ends in nuclear war or not you do not let cunts like Putin dictate what happens where, who gets what, and that's on top of the murder of innocent men, women and children.

I hope this **** is dragged into the street and hung from the nearest tree. You don't back down from these bastards you go toe to toe with them the best you can. Fucking bring it on Putin. We'll fucking flattern you.

No way can we or should we go into Ukraine or even impose a no fly zone.

We would have to go balls deep into Ukraine if we wanted to…no fly zone is unworkable without boots on the ground and an objective that is to kick Russia out of Ukraine. So we don’t do that; I see two possible outcomes, Russia achieves complete victory and emboldened by this we will have this fight another day when he moves on to the next “target” or; Russia doesn’t achieve victory but get enough to sell back home - and maybe they think twice before invading someone else. Let’s hope it’s the second

I think there’s been a logical, methodical plan that goes back a very long way, at least to 2007 when he put the world, and certainly Europe, on notice that Moscow would not accept the further expansion of NATO. And then within a year in 2008 NATO gave an open door to Georgia and Ukraine. It absolutely goes back to that juncture.

Back then I was a national intelligence officer, and the National Intelligence Council was analyzing what Russia was likely to do in response to the NATO Open Door declaration. One of our assessments was that there was a real, genuine risk of some kind of preemptive Russian military action, not just confined to the annexation of Crimea, but some much larger action taken against Ukraine along with Georgia. And of course, four months after NATO’s Bucharest Summit, there was the invasion of Georgia. There wasn’t an invasion of Ukraine then because the Ukrainian government pulled back from seeking NATO membership.”

And you clearly say:

SWP's back said:
The illegal invasion of Ukraine has NOTHING to do with NATO.

Not me embarrassing myself. That’s just you reading the bits you want to read and acting like a prick, there is a lot more to this that just NATO/Georgia/Ukraine, but you've constantly spouted shit like above (and below) on this thread ignoring key aspects of what is going on.

See this, same article

"Putin tried to warn Trump about this, but I don’t think Trump figured out what he was saying. In one of the last meetings between Putin and Trump when I was there, Putin was making the point that: “Well you know, Donald, we have these hypersonic missiles.” And Trump was saying, “Well, we will get them too.” Putin was saying, “Well, yes, you will get them eventually, but we’ve got them first.” There was a menace in this exchange. Putin was putting us on notice that if push came to shove in some confrontational environment that the nuclear option would be on the table."

Your response:

"That’s also bollocks.

Fuck me the absolute state of this thread."
State of this post.
Twats like you make me sick.

I think this exchange between Johnston and a distraught Ukrainian reporter pretty much sums up where we are on the military side of matters unfortunately

The experts disagree with you. I’ll stick with them:

There you go, I can cut and paste just as well as you can. And since you are such voracious reader, take a gander through this whilst you're at it.

Why Does Putin Hate NATO? – LifeWrap

"Putin, on the other hand, claims that NATO is a continuation of Europe’s anti-Russian sentiments that predate World War II. Russians have suffered five invasions from what it considers the West: the Polish occupation of the Kremlin in the early 17th century, Swedish attacks in the early 18th century, Napoleon’s invasion of 1812, and two wars with Germany in the first half of the twentieth century.

These were mentioned in Putin’s recent speech on Ukraine, in which he argued that the EU and the US were inspired by “16th-century Polish Austrian ideologists”. Putin then discussed how NATO was following in the footsteps of the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and Nazi Germany by using Ukraine as an anti-Russian springboard. Leaving aside whether Putin’s interpretation of history is correct, the point is that, whereas the West sees NATO as a post-World War II peacekeeping project, Putin sees NATO as just another anti-Russian project.
"

Any normal poster would come back with an "OK fair point, but". I don't hold my breath. The point is these views may be wrong, or right. But it's debatable. You reading one opinion, deciding its gospel according to SWP, does not mean everyone else is a thick ****.

Choked me up listening to her and I know it’s not the want of many but I seriously think it’s time NATO stopped in and dealt with the **** before millions (more) innocents die at the hand of the ****!!

To be fair Crimea was part of Russia till 1958 when Nikita Khrushchev made it part of the Ukraine due to their outstanding contribution to Russia in the Great Patriotic War. Khrushchev was head of the Ukrainian SSR from 1938 BTW though he was born just over the border near Kursk.
India was part of the British empire, should we be asking for it back ?
