Russian invasion of Ukraine

I feel sorry for the Americans who also hate Trump. He’s turning their nation into a Pariah State.

I think many Americans visiting Europe will be in for a rude awakening this summer.

Starmer, time to grow some balls. The nation is willing to step up and back Ukraine. Do the right thing!

Good job Donald is here to bang heads together and force the issues eh? We need someone to be proactive and take action.... albeit 100% of people are not going to agree with what he says/proposes.

Uncle Donald looking to carve his share of Ukraine’s minerals. He isn’t banging Putins head he’s kissing the other cheek of the same arse. Damn right most people won’t agree with it.

Sadly it is all too true. Putin knows it, Trump knows it and Xi knows it. We’re back to rich and powerful men, deciding, behind closed doors, on the fates of whomever they so choose and, unlike in times past, the Europeans won’t be having much of a voice.
You’d think it would make Starmer focus entirely on Europe now but, like all our political ‘leaders’ he won’t as he’ll be convinced he can turn Trump around…

Well, not Ukrainian heads. They ain’t part of it and have already said they won’t accept it.

Of course if Putin agrees to withdraw, pay reparations to Ukraine and accept that Ukraine is free to join NATO and the EU then happy days.
 
General question.

How can 2 million Russian troops invade Europe facing 5 million NATO troops?
How can Russia fight a war from Turkey all the way up to Finland?
How can Russia match NATO's far superior weapons, as an example, after losing thousands of tanks against the Ukranian army?
There is no way Russia can win a conventional war against NATO. They don't have enough men, their weapons are inferior, and their forces will be too stretched, etc.

If they had gave the Ukranians air cover from day one this would imo be done and dusted by now..Also if the Russians take Ukraine they would use the Ukranian forces to bolster their losses..

The Nation is not willing to step up and back Ukraine, I don't know anyone who wants to see our troops go into a war we cannot win, and I for one don't want to see my sons fighting for a country (UK) in which there own politicians hate.

I doubt putin would agree to tens of thousands of European NATO troops in Ukraine. Why would he??

putin has been complimented into driver's seat now by trump.
putin will demand more and more while negotiating, that's what he likes. If he doesn't get it all, he will fire another rocket into the next hospital and restarts the meat grinder for some more weeks to produce dramatic pictures and put pressure on negotiations to agree to all putin wants.

I also doubt Europe will find a way to agree to send such a huge robust contingent. And how long would it stay, forever? More costs...
Most European societies aren't ready to go to war at all, and putin is aware. Individualism and egoist lifestyle has gone too far. The political debate would disrupt Europe, putin's next priority.

Without US support it won't happen. Sadly. IMO.
