Why not, we have held strong so far and have again today stressed our continued support to Ukraine.

What I would want to see is Trump shown the door regarding this

The reality is that the US has capabilities Europe doesn't.

Showing Trump the door might mean opening it for Putin.
 
We have had time to plan for this. Earlier in the year, we were put on notice of Trump's fuckwittery.
Nine months ago, we could have been forgiven about the US (under Trump)and his loyalties to Putin.

So we have to hope that the time has been spent wisely.

Losing US support will be a massive blow. But Russia is at its weakest.
We have the means to do this without the US. It all depends how deep the allies want to go.
I'm the type who is in for a penny in for pound. But i know politics/politicians don't work that way.
I would accept economic hardships if it meant extra support for the Ukraine. We all do need to do our bit.

If Trump does pull out, then all foreign US bases need to be closed. All intelligence halted. NATO halted and reorganised without the US.
I actually understand how damaging that would be. But to sit here and do nothing is somehow worse.
If the US wants to go it alone, that is their choice. We must make them (Trump and his supporters) aware there is a price for betrayal...

Spot on, and I sincerely hope Europe are thinking the same way. I posted a few months back that the UK were looking at the French Nuc deterrent as an alternative.

That **** Trump will have something put in the agreement that gives the work of rebuilding to American companies and hell no doubt get his backhander. Even if it’s Europes 100 billion.
 
Poor Ukraine, all the needless deaths both civilians and military, cities levelled Zelenskyy stuck between a rock and a hard place.

The orange Krasnov putting horrific pressure on Ukraine to appease a murderous gangster state.

This if Ukraine agrees (which I hope they don’t) will be one of the most horrific decisions by orange man in history!!

Russia will end up regrouped thirsty for more and take the rest of Ukraine then onto other countries.

This might not be for everyone on here but I’d rather Europe fight directly with Russia even if it means MAD it makes me sick.

Time for a beer!
 
I think the demand for a snap election is the poison pill. Russia will use all its well established election interference tools to install a puppet and its basically goodbye Ukraine.

The problem is, if there is "peace" (no war), there will have to be an election anyway, as it's now well overdue in their constitution, but they can't have an election in a time of war.

At some point the war has to end for the sake of the population(s), and that will mean an election in Ukraine, so there has to be something built into that election, that it is "fair" and "free".

Any eventual election can't be overseen by russia, as we all know how fair and free their elections are, but how is it overseen and who by ?
