RvP obsession?

RVP one injury free season and he scores a lot fair enough but we've been burnt signing a late 20's striker who seemed decent at Premier League level and what happened with RSC is indeed a warning RVP is a good player but way to big a risk

Great player, but nearly 30, £30 million transfer fee, £10million per year wages, and spent a lot of time injured which means he probably wont be doing a "sparky" and still banging them in at 34 yrs old.
Money pit - leave well alone.
That's what I think too!
I agree. Despite how good I think he is, I wouldn't pay above ~£18 million for him. I'm more concerned about United possibly getting him than us, they'd be much more dangerous with him in the side.

I disagree with that.

RVP is a top player indeed, i just feel the way they set up makes him look much more impressive.

His stats shows he runs a lot but it is ineffective when without the ball or running onto it infront of goal, when Sergio runs he is hassling a defender or getting the ball.
I don't see this much from rvp, he seems an out and out finisher where as Kun does that and a lot more imo.

Technically, RVP is the best striker in the world. He could score goals from anywhere on the pitch, which Kun couldn't do. Sure, Sergio is quicker and probably stronger than van Persie, but RVP also has a height advantage over Sergio. There's definitely some truth to what you say about how Arsenal are set up and how it helps RVP. I think he'd be much more effective at Arsenal than at us. But I feel that RVP is a more complete player at this time. Aguero can still improve the side of the game which RVP is better than him at (passing ability) and be the better overall player, but at the moment it's Robin who's better.

RVP can't score from anywhere on the pitch at all, he stays in the same area roughly for a start.

Kun's goal vs QPR, you NEVER see him do that.
If anything Kun can score from anywhere.

We shall agree to disagree :), i do agree that Kun can get even better though yeah.

Haha, I guess we will buddy. But this was from when van Persie was 23. (Sorry, I need any excuse to post this!) If Aguero scores a goal as good as this in the next season, then I'll happily eat my words.

its took rvp 8 years to reach this standard kun has been here 5 minutes and its debateable who is the best stirker, and how many goals will kun score over 8 years?alot more than rvp has thats for sure.
I believe you'll find that I'm agreeing with you in the post you quoted.

At his age, with his injury record, with him being in he final year of his contract... anyone would be stupid to pay much than £15m for him.

It's not our money when all said and done...Mancini has to decide whether our current strikers can compete for the EPL and Europe??...I agree that Mancini should not be allowed to sign RVP without loosing Adebayour and probably Dzeko as our weakest striker...you have to ask who's doing the selling because it just isn't working.

I'll see you for that and raise you this:

Any decent striker can score in a nothing game against Charlton, winning the Premier League with the last kick of the match, Priceless!

I hope we dont get him, we dont need him!!

If we do he will cause an imbalance in the squad and we have four great strikers!!

I think we are only maintaining an interest to inflate the price so those rag bastards end up paying through the nose...

He's a great player. But will he emulate last season?

Highly unlikely in my opinion.

He's good. He's not great.

He'll almost certainly never have a season like he did last season. More likely to have just okay seasons like the previous ten before last.

Don't want him, but what's the chances he'll put a few past us playing somewhere else? In an ideal world he would go to the rags for £40mil and get an injury in training which will be attended to by Harold Shipman or the same lot that looked after Owen Hargreaves.

Exactly my thinking.

What him score 40 for the rags tho..
