RVP. will NOT SIGN for city. That is a fact. I sound like the fat spanish waiter. I will wager anybody on here whatever they want.

I will bet £1 at the odds of 1,000,000 to 1, thank you kind sir.
I will look forward to collecting my £1.

-- Thu Jul 26, 2012 6:53 pm --

Haha, I guess we will buddy. But this was from when van Persie was 23. (Sorry, I need any excuse to post this!) If Aguero scores a goal as good as this in the next season, then I'll happily eat my words.

I'll see you for that and raise you this:

Any decent striker can score in a nothing game against Charlton, winning the Premier League with the last kick of the match, Priceless!
Agree with that, even Sibs scored a volley against Charlton at The Valley in a nothing match!

The general consensus on here n' other forums is we neither need or want him, and most would like to keep the strikers we have.

RvP obsession? Not for most blues, that's for sure.
There are quite a few City fans at work and not one would like to see him at City.

However mancini would by now have publically said he was not interested if that was the case. I think he maybe keeping his options open in case Tevez or Dzeko go. Doesn't look likely at the moment

I think Bobby hasn't said he doesn't want him yet so as to keep the price up for other teams that do need him. Namely the sad lot from the next town.

Todays Mirror report - "City boss seethes" as he sees Van Persie slipping through his fingers, whilst MEN report he's 'anxious'. Is Roberto becoming 'obsessed' in signing Van Persie?
If so, then we will pay well over the odds for a player that could milk us for a big fat contract whilst almost constantly being injury plagued like Santa Crock is. RvP is a great player when fit but he won't win a golden boot from the treatment table!

I think the media are whipping this story into a frenzy, and i just hope that Fergie signs him to potentially become the next Michael Owen than the next Santa Crock!

Stopped reading there.

Great player, but nearly 30, £30 million transfer fee, £10million per year wages, and spent a lot of time injured which means he probably wont be doing a "sparky" and still banging them in at 34 yrs old.
Money pit - leave well alone.

Absolutely agree.

I don't live far from you so i will deliver it in a wheelbarrow, well i won't coz we wont sign him.

Mancini should have a look at the prices for the Southampton game before splashing out £20 Million on a player who shouldn't get into our starting eleven.

If he did fit in, it would only be alongside Aguero (because Aguero is a much better player) and we've seen how well RVP does for Holland when he's not the lone striker.

RVP is a good player - nothing more, but would be a bad signing for City. He'd probably be a good signing for United but he's already turned them down once in his career. If he does go there though, I welcome the challenge because we all know that Vinnie has Van Persie in his front pocket every day of the week.

I read that we had offered £12m, exceptionally low even considering he is out of contract next year. We paid £25m for Nasri in the same situation!

Same situation?

Nasri was 24 when we bought him, and thus has a SIGNIFICANT chance of being sold on for a significant fee. RvP will be 29 before the season starts and thus has ZERO chance of a significant sell-on value. Accordingly, the recoup of almost zero transfer fee, or a simple run out of his contract so he can get one last payday from somewhere, means a significant REDUCTION IN VALUE to the club.

Throw in his pay equation and at about £3-5M MORE than RvP every year of that contract, his transfer fee plus pay becomes ridiculous for a player with his history.

Season Year - League Appearances - Goals Scored

2004 - 26 - 5
2005 - 24 - 5
2006 - 22 - 11
2007 - 15 - 7
2008 - 28 - 11
2009 - 16 - 9
2010 - 25 - 18
2011 - 38 - 30
So, to recap, during his Arsenal Premier League CAREER, he has...

~ only played over 28 League GAMES in ONE SEASON
~ only scored more than 18 League GOALS in ONE SEASON
That RVP's stats may be quiet similar to RSC's too, and their injury records should probably be on par as well imo. City still couldn't find the way to get rid of RSC yet someone at the club is trying desperately to add similar kind of player in to the book again, just unbelievable huh? ... ;)

I dont want RVP, we dont need him, I just think he would complicate team selection, hope he goes abroad, keep our four strikers and include the young Swedish lad, what's needed is cover at CB, and LB, should Kolorov go.

Plus a winger and job done

I share the reservations about RvP expressed by many on this site - age, fitness, real ability - but I've questioned Roberto's judgement on many occasions, and I've always been wrong. If Roberto wants him, it's good enough for me, but ...
