FWIW according to Football Manger ( I know, I know) Bertrand can play a little CB but isn't much more than an adequate player there.

According to FIFA, he can play in every position on the field, without dropping even one point on his overall ranking! No wonder Pep wants him!

I guess it's all about opinions but I'd be interested to know who realistically you'd sign as our starting full backs for a combined 80m.

Don't think the fee is important, couldn't care less if it costs £180 million or we get them on a free as long as they're the best options. Maybe City think they are the best options available to us and if so, fine. Me personally, I've never rated Walker, and as i said, i think Bertrand is very solid and a sensible buy but he'll never be world class. Alternatives? No idea. i#m not in a position to know who is and isn't realistic.

Yes Bertrand maybe considered back up? But he will easily start 30 games he knows the prem inside out and is up there as one of the best in the league. Great player technically and can bomb up and down no drama. Him and mendy rotating will work an absolute treat in my eyes.

I would seriously bring Mangala back with a solid left back beside him and a holding midfielder like Fabinho In front of him.

I think that is counter productive as you are effectively accommodating someones weakness through two other players. All team players have to be comfortable in possession and unless the Mangler has acquired this recently, I can only see Pep accommodating that notion as a very last resort - not June 06

It's the optics/timing if Bertrand gets done before or in lieu of Mendy. Folks will think City moved from Mendy to Bertrand and not in for both. Had Mendy been announced and Bertrand followed this move would be hailed by everyone. Still will if Mendy comes through.

I believe he's played on the left of a back 3 quite a few times this season too, would be a good signing.
