Ryan Bertrand

Would Bertrand get into Real's team? Bayern's? No, probably not as he isn't as good as their first choice. So, if it's the case that we want "to go to the next level" (or any other meaningless cliché) and compete with those clubs we shouldn't buy anyone. But if Pep wants to improve the depth and quality of our squad and ensure that it plays the way he wants while challenging for (and actually winning some of) the competitions we play in, we might be better trusting his judgement and letting him get on with bringing the players he wants to our club. I doubt many of them will be second rate and most of them will be a pleasure to watch.

And how many of those are 20-20 hindsight? I don't remember anyone criticizing Navas, Mangala or Otamendi before their trades (most were gleeful we had beaten out the scum on Otamendi). And Fernando, Garcia and Delph cost a total of 36m combined, so were never luxury buys,
Plenty criticised Otamendi, because at the time Denayer had signed a new deal on the understanding he'd play. Plenty criticised Mangala because he didn't appear to be technically good.

And many criticised the last 3 because they were clearly a level below the players they were replacing.

i think he will be a good squad player.
if his value is less than 25M, City should sign him.

Trouble buying players from within the premier league is 90% of them are overpriced and not at the level to take us to the next stage, and if they are English the clubs are taking the piss even more. Most of the premier leagues clubs have stuck the knife into city because of our owners wealth but they are all ready to get the most from city which makes them all look greedy and to me that is a worse trait.

Not at a good enough level for me this guy.

He'll be bought as a second choice - even then, he's still infinitely better than our options last season. He's a solid, reliable choice to have as a number 2. There's no pleasing people on here.

Just worried he will end up as a Delph standard signing. Would Real Madrid buy him?
