Saddest songs.

Ghost on the Shore - Lord Huron. A song about death and a dead man who's not quite ready to leave Earth.

Adam's Song - Blink 182 is about suicide and depression, which always stuck out to me considering the jovial and immature nature of the band.

Hallelujah - Leonard Cohen and/or Jeff Buckley. Very misunderstood, somber song, about loneliness and falling out of love.

Stacks - Bon Iver, a song about losing everything.

Not read through the whole thread but pretty much anything by Radiohead or The Smiths would qualify as "sad".

Eleanor Rigby is also quite a depressing song.

Was going to post Jeff Buckley version of Hallelujah myself.
This is fairly melancholic or perhaps just angry. Not sure. Great song either way.

Up there as one of my favourite songs of all time.

Also fitting with the topic of the thread, a lot of Justin/Bon iver’s music could be posted here - but his cover of Bonnie Rait’s I can’t make you love me is probably one of the most fitting imo

Dust in the Wind - Kansas

The saddest instrument the violin.

Sad but true ( not Metallica )

Sad because in the end its all we are.
