Safe Standing Bill In Parliament

Block 118 is standing now and i have seen kids as young as 10 -15 standing with no danger of getting hurt. The seats provide the spacing that was not there when we did have the problems. But I do remember being in the Kippax when I was 12 and being carried along with the crowd when we scored and I absolutley loved it.

oh yes mate how good was this, gotta be one of the most fuckin exhilerating experiences when you're a teenager, flying down the kippax and then ending up next to some random lads and discussing the goal..... this is what its all about, community! the young ones on here don't know what they missed, i feel sorry for them actually coz its just not as good

It should be piss easy to allow people to stand in safety in this country, just as it is in Germany. It would vastly improve the atmoshere at games & it would mean those people who don't want to stand, having lesss problems with their view being obscured by those who do. There's absolutely no reason for not doing it. The objections are all due to ignorance &/or lies/selfishness by those opposed to it.

if theres adequate barriers and the areas are run correctly, then they should return.standing is a must and a few has spoilt it for us all. i would still pay 30quid to stand, better atmosphere, better banter better all round.

I wasn't around for standing stadiums I'm afraid. Maine Road was good as all seater though.

.

then you have no idea what you're on about.

then naturally only a handful of people know what space is like, so it's absolutelt pointless us reading up about it, discovering new things etc. because we weren't there.

What a load of old tosh.

With respect though, quite a lot of people (me included) know what football terraces are like, because we have experienced them. It's exactly like the differerence between standing and sitting at a rock concert. If you're on your feet and mobile, you feel that you are an active part of what is going on.

i understand that, but I'm not arguing it from an atmospheric point of view.

spot on, i am going to a concert tonight and i am sitting, but i am not looking forward to it like when i go and see them and i stand. when city use to score and you ended up 30 feet from where you started in the kippax, then you see everyone laughing and exhilarated, thats what football is about.

Can just see it now, a nice big Standing area and instead of the old 'Celtic/Rangers' chants, it'll be 'South Stand/East Stand' with the odd defectee from the Colin Bell/North stand standing in the corner with the leppers. Please make the standing happen, it'll add 90% to the putrid atmos that is now at the Coms.

anybody seen the terrace at Borussia Dortmund? its massive!

people who argue about standing can sit at the family section.

i think the teams of middlesbrough, bolton, blackburn etc will profit for this since more people will attend football matches if terraces are in place.

The way the Germans do it is fantastic. They have special seating that folds up and down depending on whether it's a league game, or European game.

Most German terraces don't have special seating that folds up and down though. It takes quite some time and effort to get Dortmund's terrace ready for European action as you can see here for example:

Fans volunteer for that since they do not want those folding seats at all.
It takes 110 people more than 2 days.

Düsseldorf:On the top you can see the folding seats. Fortuna fans fought for their removal for 7 years and finally got their wish. They were removed and now they have a "real" terrace.

They "invented" a great system:
