On April 30, 1994, City hosted Chelsea with perhaps 20,000 or so packed on the Kippax for the very last time. Many brought flags, inflatable bananas and came in fancy dress. It was a day of celebration and sadness – for many, standing on the Kippax was all they’d ever known.

About fecking time. Put some real atmosphere back in the grounds, although with this comes the real risk of the guy behind taking a cheeky piss in-situ.
Rough with the smooth, I suppose!! :/

Ah yes, the old hot leg. That takes me back a bit. Though the perpetrators of the hot leg were amateurs. The real professionals were those who had perfected the art of pissing into an empty beer can.

The Governemnt, the Police, the PL, etc were all right. Allowing all fans to stand today at Chelsea v Liverpool was an absolute disaster waiting to happen. And they were within their rights to drag the safe standing debate and law out for decades with excuse after excuse, report after report, misleading facts, after facts, etc.

When is reality they were absolute cunts, paralysed by fear, paranoia mistrust of football fans, and a campaign driven by you know who from Liverpool, and other people with a vested interest against football and football fans.

What a f*ing waste of time it has been.

Hi
have I missed something Today?

Should never have banned it in the first place ........... once it was done right it was fine I mean nothing else happened after hillsborough did it ????? I mean every club at the top level still had standing areas years after the disaster without any incidents .......... or was it down to Euro 96 when clubs had to have it regardless
Standing was never the issue with regards to safety. Terracing wasn't the issue either.

Caged in paddocks like those at Hillsborough, the scoreboard at OT, the old Stoke ground, the Dell at Southampton were the problem and those who visited those grounds with City will know that only too well.

It would never have been an issue on an open terrace like the Kippax, the Kop or Stretford End. A vast open space with sideways movement possible.
