Congratulations to the Club and City Matters on this breakthrough. It’s up to us the fans to make the atmosphere.
Probably because the news broke late in the evening. I was in bed when it broke and only found out when I got up this morning. A few on our WhatsApp group heard last night though and we’re all buzzing about it. @jrb is one and is all over this thread ;) I’m also pleasantly surprised about the news as I was under the impression that the idea had stalled for now. There’s only singing in a couple of blocks of South Stand Level 1 on a regular basis.
I’ve noticed this thread is very quiet compared with posters who’ve been telling us for years that the Etihad will be rocking once rail seating is introduced. Maybe some other posters are gutted that City Matters have achieved this.
I know 1894 have been pivotal too mate and JRB is a legend on the stadium threads. I was aiming my comment more on the overall tone of responses to the OP, than any group. Let’s face it, without 1894 there would have been less singing in is South Stand L1 in recent years.Probably because the news broke late in the evening. It doesn’t matter who gets name-checked. We’ve gotten what we wanted and have campaigned for for years which is the main thing. The club could’ve name-checked the Spirit Of Shankly group for all I care!
I think the capacity will be just under 54k because 1,100 seats are being removed for the bigger LED screens and the rail seats won’t add to capacity.why was something like this embargoed? also when this is finished what will be the total capacity?
Is that something the fans in that area of the ground want though? Perhaps the area that they are currently doing is sufficient to meet demand for standing at this time.Good news, I hope it’s just the start. I’d love to see it carry on right round East stand level 1 aka the kippax
