Safe Standing: Rail Seating in South Stand

I did a survey on here a while ago and 32.50% said they usually stand but 55% said they were highly likely to use a safe standing section with 15% more sharing they we’re likely to use it. So obviously quite a few would want to relocate

There wouldn’t be capacity to relocate for most people since the south stand lower is usually one of the fastest areas to sell out with season cards.

Yes I know it’s a bit difficult, I was hoping they were going to shift the family stand and put the safe standing section in that area where the acoustics are better and less competition from away fans. I’m not sure that this will change much atmosphere wise because the singing section is in the wrong place. Although I’m glad the safe standing section is going in even if temporary before the north stand is renovated.

Good news for those that want it, at 56 I'm in the other camp would of been happier if they were putting Emirates style comfy seats in, having been in the spurs away end it's a big no thanks to paying £50 to stand in a sheep pen from me.

City need to decide what they're doing with the stadium for the longer term. Where the Family Stand goes, where the single, contiguous singing section should be, where the away fans go, how far round the ground they're going to install rail seating, rather than pissing about here and there, shifting odd blocks or 1,000 seats. Just do it.
That's exactly right. They need to bite the bullet. They missed a massive chance when the new SS upper tier opened but it isn't too late if they go for it in one hit.

A better atmosphere helps the team, but it's a lot more than that. When I was a kid what I loved about football most was the noise, the singing, the agression. That's what hooks kids in. The truth is we are still not getting enough kids to support City. There's more, but Liverpool are getting more than us in the non-football towns. An Etihad voice, a roar, an identity, a Kippax will give them something to be proud of.

There are thousands of people in that stadium who would make more noise if they had a "leader" to follow. One singing end. It would be better on the top tier for acoustic reason, which is why they missed an open goal 5 years ago, but it could be in this rail seating area if they moved the away fans up to the top tiers (or elsewehere) and pushed it hard, allowing 1894 to be right at the back, centre of it as leaders.

The whole lower south stand should be safe standing and move the away support elsewhere (family stand maybe). Would be so much better but it’s a good start
Highly unlikely the away fans will be anywhere but the south stand given where the coach park is. Is there also a directive that away fans have to pitchside wherever possible, which rules out having them higher up in the stadium

This is great news. I can’t believe the amount of ‘banter’, ridicule etc posted by opposition fans on the Mancity twitter feed about this though. It really is frustrating that so many believe the rubbish about empty seats/Emptyhad. To help counter any of this I’ve posted a brief factual piece on terracing at City which highlights a few crowd records and facts:

It’s free to read and I’ll be posting more stories, evidence & facts over the coming months for anything else we get criticised for!

That’s your opinion and you are welcome to it. We need more singers as a priority over changes to seat designs, although I welcome the introduction of rail seating.

I’ve said 1894 have done a good job so maybe it’s time for a few posters to get a thicker skin about a bit if a credit going to City Matters and the Club. Everyone knows 1894 have been lobbying for this for yonks.

Fair enough Tim.

Maybe I read too much into your post.

Apologise if it wasn't meant as I thought it came across.

Lovely little piece, Gary.
