Vidic to Inter was announced mid season wasn't it?

It was, that's a bosman and can be signed/announced 6 months ahead.

Different rules between English clubs I believe, but I could be wrong.

Same rules, unless the player is under 24 years old.

I stand corrected. I didn't think English clubs could approach players in England until the last month of contract, and 6 months if abroad.

People are complaining about the £100,000+ a week, it's on a free. So really it could be a lot cheaper? I mean, if it was a £4m transfer fee, and £70k a week, wouldn't it be about the same? MY MATH IS NOT RIGHT, I am just curious, this might be cheaper than some other possibilities right?

Your math is right. Every 30k works out to about 4.7 million over 3 years.
So to me, that seems like a great deal for someone as backup with skill and experience.

It is. If he were in the last year of his contract, we'd be looking at paying about 100k in salary and maybe a 10m fee.

You can tell he's a key player by their fans' reaction.

Probably won't be announced until 1st July, given the fact he's still in contract with Arsenal until 30th June.

surely the club will announce it as soon as they can, allowing him to get on with the world cup without any extra fuss

Re: Sagna

Giving Sagna circa £100k p/w plus around £3m as a signing on fee makes sense. He's a proven RB and it gives us a proven back up for Zabba. If Zabba had been injured for any period of time this season we'd have struggled to cover him simply because Micah was injured for much of the season and when fit really struggling for form. We offered Micah £80k per week so for 25 per cent more we have a real uplift in quality.

Re: Sagna

Sheikh Mansour went to London
in his clapped out Lada
He said to Arsene 'thankyou very much'
I'm taking Bacary Sagna

It started from £80,000 p/w to 100, then 120 and now 150k,
By the time he signs he's gonna be earning more than Yaya

Too many syllables, no rhyme.

Try again ;)
