Amazing life story. A street urchin from Palermo who never went to school. Virtually unknown before Italia 90, he was the star of the finals.Then hardly scored a goal after that.
RIP Toto.

His passion & raw exuberance was tangible.

Great player for a few years then just seemed to dissappear. Whether that was because Italian football was shite and no bugger watched it after a year or he just declined. A colourful character all the same. RIP Toto.

One of many who absolutely lit up what was surely the greatest world cup finals there's ever been, no doubt if you watched all the games back now then the standard would seem pretty poor, but the whole tournament was awesome, international football hasn't been the same since

100%. My interest in international football pretty much fell off a cliff after Italia 90.

Great player who lit up Italia '90. Unfortunately, he broke Irish hearts in that quarter final but I never held it against him. His exuberance was infectious. And as others have said, a fascinating back story too. RIP Toto.

Had a quick look, and he played for Inter 30 times from 92-94.

The bulk of his career was at Messina.

Agree with you there.
I remember Spain82 and Mexico86 but was too young to appreciate it but Italia90 really hit home for lots of reasons.
And I remember the summer being boiling hot too.

Being Irish his goal against us was one of my first memories of watching football. Even got my son a Schillaci 19 jersey when he was 2. 59 is far too young.
