Sam Allardyce

Big Sam is a good PL manager but nothing more.

We have good PL players and nothing more, so perhaps we should start choosing managers who can get the best out of them rather than pretending that they're all world beaters and only a world class manager can do the job. Picking a team that plays to its strengths, where players know exactly what it is they're supposed to be doing, would be a start.

We've had a god fearing manager with Hoddle, we've had the wally with the brolly McLaren and the dinosaur Hodgson, so now we're going for big Sam who guarantee"s we won't finish bottom of any competition, the FA have not got the balls to start afresh and bring the players through the different levels, we will always have a national team that won't achieve anything apart from beating Wales and teams of that level because that's where we are at.

Each to their own but I can easily envisage a situation almost like when Moyes went to United and the players just don't respect him.

England is a team full of players who have played in the CL and competed for and won major honours. It is a huge difference between doing that and avoiding relegation every year.

I simply cannot understand how a manager who got sacked from West Ham as they believed he could not take them forward, and has narrowly kept Sunderland in the PL is even in consideration for a job of this magnitude. It's irrelevant what he achieved at Bolton because that was a decade ago. The game has drastically changed since then. If we are going to use that to boost his credentials then Redknapp should still be in the running. At least he has managed in the CL and has won an FA Cup.

No one whatsoever can complain about England being a failure if we are going to keep employing 3rd rate managers.

The 'players won't respect' him isn't really an argument. The players haven't a fucking leg to stand on! They have won 1, yes 1, knock out game in 10 years - I'd suggest he doesn't respect them

Get back to basics. As a national team, we are above the relegation zone. He will steady the ship, phase out the shite(he won't be allowed to turf them out) in time for the next manager to take it on

Can't go wrong with him. We will walk qualifying and will hold our own at the WC

Djorkaeff, Anelka and Hierro had won a few trophies. They all respected him.

Capello wasn't a third rate manager but he couldn't get the England team to perform at a major tournament.

Ferguson advising gill says it all, two of the biggest t--ts involved in football, every new Man U kid on the block will be shoehorned in under the guidance of Sam potatoehead alladyce, my god I give up

You're right. Been saying the same thing. We are a mid table side with access to a limited number of quality players. Most of whom aren't playing at the very highest level of European competition on a regular basis.

If England were a premier league team it would struggle to finish in the top 6.

Might as well give the job to someone used to making cheap leather wallets out of pigs ears.

100% agree.

IMO they got the concept right last time (get a low key manager) but they got it all wrong by appointing the wrong guy. He's a fraud (just like Rodgers).

Big Sam is no fraud. He does the basics right and IMO that's all you need at international level. Defned corners, attack at corners, hold lines, press, know where the ball is going to be delivered, etc. The few class players England have will come to the fore if the foundations around them are solid. No more of this "lets find a place for Rooney" with Sam I'd bet.
